Amen, Reverend Ralph!
To say Ms. Horne is in class by herself is a serious understatement.
Here's to a woman who defined beauty, grace and strength - happy birthday, Ms. Horne.

Happy 86th to that graceful lady known as Lena Horne - the Enchantress.
She's one of the last "great dames" of showbiz.

Happy Birthday to the astounding Miss Lena Horn!! I went to A Lady and Her Music five times and was astounded by her beauty, artistry, and accessiblity. I told all my show business friends that if they wanted a lesson in how a song should be sung, they should buy a ticket to her show.
For so long people in the industry only thought of her as the beauty with the sexy, tigress delivery but not as an "artist." But during A Lady and Her Music, Lena illustrated that in addition to being a beauty she was a consummate musician and story teller. The song "Yesterday When I Was Young" should be permanently retired because no one could sing it better than she did in her show.
Happy Birthday, you were there first and set the example for all those who followed. There is no female who stands in a gown at a microphone who doesn't owe you some allegiance.
