Deon may or may not be still "gigging" around the Chicago area or suburbs where he lives. He grew up in Ann Arbor & was managed by the late Ollie McLaughlin, along with Barbara Lewis & The Capitols.
Recordman I'd like to see Deon touring again too but for personal reasons I don't think thats going to happen, maybe down the road. It would be nice to see him performing again.

Is going to have a fit if she can find out where Deon Jackson is performing. That man should have been a much bigger star I tried calling around to get this mans phone number but I had no luck he was one of the greats when it came to my opinion and I know Nish thinks so too. Well I called and there is a listing for a Deon Jackson but no one answered the phone do you all think he would mind IF this is the one that I tell him about the Forum,

Nish is a HUGE Deon Jackson fan, we all know this, you called it right Steph! As I type, I'm playing "No Not Much" by him.

As long as HE knows there are quite a few people who respect his body of work and hold him in high regard, I'm all right. But he should receive some type of reward in honor of his contributions to the soul scene. I do have to say, if I got to see him perform, I'd be singing along at the top of my lungs and giving standing ovations after each selection. I read somewhere that he really wanted to sing standards. The thought of hearing D.J. sing standards is as compelling a thought as I've had all day. And I've always had this fantasy of seeing Barbara Lewis and Deon Jackson perform a duet of "I Still Remember The Feeling." Ah, okay, so it will only happen in my dreams, but oh what a dream. Sadly, again I'm reminded that I was born way too late.

The listing is for De's son Deon, Jr.'s business, they don't live together, he is a grown man. I have De's phone number but do not want to bother him. He has a woman and the have a couple of young children together and maybe she is jealous or insrcure, I don't know therefore I can't really say but when we were in touch a few years back I got the feeling someone out of his past made her uneasy, so I don't want to ruin a past friendship by contacting him or causing any problems that may interupt his happy home, no way. I didn't have any personal interest in him at this time in my life, Iam happy in my relationship and I hope he is too, our thing was when we were kids along, long time ago. Ancient History period. As much as I would love to find out if he his performing I'm not going to make that phone call, sorry. Steph, Your a good detective!
