One last thing...
Behavior or Food can be disgusting. To describe Music as such simply doesn't make sense. Its like saying the "Moon was aromatic", or, "my Bike is vigilant"! It's incongruous and idiosyncratic.
Poor Maury. He needs our help. I'll say a prayer for his improved health and offer these helpful links:

Sounds like he's just a guy with an opinion, made an obtuse comment about music...not a big deal.
That's a great thing about music, it can arouse such passion in people, as evidenced by the responses Maury's comment triggered.
But Soul music, or Blues, Jazz and any other American music, ain't gonna rise or fall because of comments made on a Forum.
Neither will it fade away.
Unfortunately, American culture has little time for history. And this frustrates those of us who want to preserve the spaces and places.
America is a young country. In time we will hopefully learn the value of preservation.
But maybe this aspect of American culture is just a part of the entire package which comprises our music--notes&tones, art, racism, politics, all of it. The price black artists (especially) paid to create such a beautiful offering was, and in some cases still is, appalling.
That's why anyone who attempts to write in depth about it has a real advantage if they are immersed in the surrounding aspects of the music as well as the music itself. Few non-black American writers, and far fewer non-American writers have pulled this off. It's not impossible, just very difficult.
People who appreciate NS music should be proud of the many, doubtless very fine, records/CD compilations our British friends have sponsored. They are champions of American music.
Sometimes unissued material wasn't issued for a reason: it wasn't deemed good enough at the time, or there were technical problems, or other reasons which I'm sure a local specialist can enumerate. But there is gold among the dross!
I hate to see people leave a Forum which purports to be a haven for free expression in a safe atmosphere because they feel they cannot express an honest opinion.
I read many threads (including the occasional dreaded 'list' threads) and try to drop something in when I think it will add value, or offer my opinion, just 'cause I have one.
I think Vandelron, KevGo and everyone else has the RIGHT to express an opinion. Most posters generally offer thoughtful, honest words and that counts for a lot, IMO.
Thanks for indulging my ramblings. If I didn't think highly of this website, I wouldn't be here.
