Okeh
we have heard all about the magnificent work of the Ch-lites in the 1970's
but can anyone go back to the late 60s and tell me anything regards the brilliant dancer on Blue Rock Records and
"She's Mine"
backed with
"Never no more"
Blue Rock(no.4037)

and the other Blue Rock recording they did
"I'm so jealous/the mix mix song"
number 4007.

A great and favourite label of mine Blue Rock and one well worth collecting thanks to Mercury for the Label.

I am afraid I am out of my depth regards the 80's
but as you know
class always stays and shines through no matter what era.

I was lucky enough to pick up an album by the Chilites in the early eighties. It's up the loft and I can't remember the title. It had a black edge to the cover with a whitish centre dominated with a pic of the Chilites.

Another great album bought same day or close to it was by the Stylistics. A greenish cover.

Really happy go lucky music.

"Never No More" is a fine early ballad written by Eugene Record and sung by him in a high Nolan Strong ish falsetto. I didn't hear it when it came out cause it didn't get played in my neck...but I picked on it later. "She's Mine" was more traditonal soul/R&B; it was done in a style that they quickly abandoned.

Cheers Scratcher,
She's mine is the one for me.

No problem Mel, "She's Mine" has some nice harmony and you can hear the bass; more people like it than "Never No More," which some find irritating because Record is singing so high. I just think the ballad was an indicator of what was coming later. If you like "She's Mine" I know you love "The Mix Mix Song"; I like that one too.

Scratcher,
to be truthful I dig all the Chi-lites material that I have heard including the 70s stuff.
But as you know I am a 60s nut
and your right I do like the mix mix song.
With the She's mine track I didnt think it was Eugene Record at all.
But as you say with him singing so high, thats what through me I guess.
Just love it though.
mel(totally biased)

Mel, I meant "Never No More" as the song Record sings high on.
