i have a ten-inch acetate of a song called "destroy that boy," with a young-sounding female lead singer and female group backing vocals. it's an uptempto mid-sixties organ-driven soul song....based on where i got it from, i am reasonably certain that mr. mclaughlin was involved in it.
i know of two other versions of the song: by a girl garage group called the what four, and by "the happy cats" on a british bootleg. i've heard only the latter, and the version on my acetate, well, DESTROYS it.
does anyone have a clue as to who this might be? the voice is unfamiliar to me, and there's no information on the label.
thanks,
matt

Sharon McMahan or McMahon
recorded for Karen records.
"here comes the boy I Love"a cracking track on Karen(no319)with a great flip titled
"love is wonderful'
she also recorded
another great track but dont remember the actual number or flip but the side I know is titled
"got to find another guy"
The first is going for about 100 pounds and the other for around the 150/200+ pound mark.
matt,I actually did a thread about her a while ago
should be in the archives somewhere.

I found the two Sharon McMahan singles on Karen
Notice the wrong spelling of her name on the Got To Find Another Guy single.
Mel, B-side is the Barbara Lewis song Hello Stranger 66.

Amazing Lars
Sorry about my own spelling earlier.
I received some nice e-mails from Sharon a few months ago which gave me an insight to her career.
I'll share somewhere down the line.

I may be wrong but I'm trying to remember somethng. When Ollie was renting office space from me in Tera Shirma Studio A he had a young attractive girl acting as his secretary. I seem to remember that he was doing some recording with her and her name may have been Sharon.
