Now heres an instrumental that just
totally blows me away every time I play it.

"Frantic Escape"
by the innocent bystanders which came out first on the
pameline Record Label(no.302)
and then on the Atlantic record Label(no.276)
with the same flipsides on each and both aptly titled
"crime dosent pay"

Can anyone tell me how this great fast and frantic instrumental came about.
Was it session men killing time or what?
What else did they cut?

yet another rare sound at the time when I first heard it in the early 1970's and still does it for me today.

Apologies if this has been covered I cant remember if it has.

Once more any input is always very much appreciated.

Mel,

All I know about them are whats on the label. Crime is the vocal up-tempo/wild A-side. I have got a double sided promo of that, written by the Wylie Hester team. Wylie was also the arranger and the producer.

the B-side is the fast instrumental Frantic Escape with that typical guitar Motown backbeat discussed on another thread here. Thanks Mel, I had forgotten how good it was.

I had that song on another, ordinary copy! There is one Tyrone Fairchild here. I cannot trace that name Have we seen that before?

Lars

Again, WOW.

For anyone interested, we met Popcorn again last month.

He wanted to come to the Cass Cafe, but my assumptions failed again and it's my fault he wasn't there.

Popcorn lost his wife a few months ago during an operation in hospital.

Tragic circumstances which he is obviously struggling over.

Over the last few months however he has lost a lot of weight and was looking really good IMO.
