Friday 20th June - ENGLAND

After years of trying on Ebay and other sources this mornint the post at 6.30am (year early) brought me THE DELFONICS GOLD AUDIOPHILE CD, 20 tracks so clean and crystal clear.

I just wonderred what the "real" specialists" likeBOBBI and MIKE MCLEAN think of hese pressings? are they any better? or just a way of charging a little more.

By the way I bought it from SWITERLAND and it was released in Belgium?

John

John:
I have audiophile CDs at home made by Mobile Fidelity and DCC Classics. These folks do spend a lot more time making sure the sound quality is as pristine as you first heard the recording. Steve Hoffman, a leading audiophile producer/engineer, has a website that can further address this phenomenon (I forgot the URL so you may want to do an AOL/Yahoo search)

Kevin, to be clear, the name of the releasing company is "Audiophile Classics" and they make gold CDs, but I have not heard of them before to tell you if they are pretenders or contenders as far as being in the neighborhood of Mobile Fidelity or DCC audiophile releases. They may just be trying to make you think you are buying one of the other companies' discs by blinding you with the glint of gold. :)

Ken

Since I can't answer the question, I may as well say something positive/constructive:

The plain old aluminum CD of "La-La Means I Love You: The Definitive Collection" mastered by Bob Irwin sounds pretty good to my ears.

Ken

The CD the Ken mentioned was a 20-bit remastered CD. Check out the credits as to who remastered the Audiophile disc (if it's Bob Irwin or Al Quaglieri then you have the same disc that was issued on regular aluminum here in the USA).
