I was under the impression this collection was going to be saddled with a lot of their Tri-Phi recordings but only one 'That's What's Girls Are Made For," is included, which is a good thing. I would have liked for more of their Motown tracks to have been added like "For All We Know," "Sweet Thing" and "Where Is That Girl"--any of those in place of the mundane "What More Can A Boy Could Ask For," which wasn't an A or B-side nor was it released on their two Motown albums; it first came out on Motown's From the Vaults LP.

Scratcher--no question without those songs no Spinners collection is complete. "For All We Know" is the Motown Spinners at their best. I also really like "Don't Pay them No Mind," from the Second Time around LP--great harmony and a G.C. lead

I wonder what happened to my song Sweet love of mine??
It appeared on the previous Spinners cd package so why not this one. Oh well,it be's dat way sometimes.

Hey, Bobby, been meaning to say how much I love that song the first time you mentioned it was your composition--and all your work with Blue Magic.("Sideshow"--what imagery!) I can never figure out what's the rule of thumb for what gets included in these "definitive" collection. P.S. Does the name Joe Tarsia mean anything to you?

Top of pageBottom of page   By Eli (141.151.90.50) on Sunday, June 22, 2003 - 11:48 am:

Joe Tarsia was and is the owner of Sigma Sound Dtudios since its inception in August of 1968.
He was the primary engineer for PIR.

Thanks Bobby. That was a name I came to associate with quality sound! Were Carla and Yvette--if I'm recalling the names correctly--the primary PIR harmony singers?

Don't know if this has been mentioned, but I believe Sue wrote the liner notes for this collection.

"What more can a boy ask For" by the Spinners is actually a favorite of South Jersey radio listeners. Good Pick.
