Some more small talk
about our music.

THE Tams.

There name of the Tams originated from there fans in there early years.
As they appeared on stage
they were all wearing multi-coloured Tam-o-shanters.
Theses "tams"
became the groups trade mark and were a standard part of there costumes.

Thom Bell.

Were all aware of this guys great work
but early on starting out he was a keen studier of classical music.
And apart from a love of R&B music this was a big part of his life. And had been studying the art of being a straight pianist.

Thom grew up in philadelphia
in the same streets as
Kenny Gamble.

Around 1963
Thom took a job playing the piano on a resident basis in his home town of philly at the Uptown Theatre.
The theatre had weekly live soul acts appearing and amongst a handful of other musicians in the pits was Thom.

As I state above
Thom and Kenny Gamble grew up together
and they had a duo act together known as
Kenny and Tommy.

They even recorded a track on the Heritage Label titled "someday".

Later,
this duo act was made bigger and was renamed
The Romeos.
