Good One R&B; Curtis got the idea for that song from a western movie where Rita Hayworth was dancing around a campfire. He saw the movie when he was a little boy and the lyrics for "Gypsy Woman"came to him! Incredable. S.S.

Have pity on those who's chances get no better-Smitty's line when the Manhattans recorded it with all their voices taking a lead, Jimmy also recorded it, my two favorite singers(smile)!!

Everything he did with the 5 Stairsteps!

Brothers and Sisters be thankful for what you got

I'm Still Waiting and his promise I haven't forgot

Other than his own lyrics, my favorite song by he & the Impressions was "Never Let Me Go", especially the way he ended it, also love the duet he did on "You and Me Baby" aawwwww sukie sukie...mmm mm mm...

S.S.

Hey R&B,
you can hear Curtis
every time you hear a lot of the great Chicago gems.
But a fave of mine that has memories for me is the Superfly album.

Every track man,
especially
pusher man
freddies dead
superfly
every god damn track means something to me personally.
But all his work hits me.
A genius
and then some.

Supermel.

Sis..
Be thankful for what you got wasnt Curtis. It was by Curtis sound alike, William De Vaughan. It was done in Philly, music by MFSB.

Bro;
You know I've heard he did it before but for some reason I always thought there were two versions on that song. Wow he does sound so much like C.M. Incredable! You the man Bobby!

William De Vaughan was a one hit wonder because he became a Witness and denounced the devils music.
He was also hooked up with thieves who were song sharks as in send us your cash and we will cut you a record.
He found out to late when the powers that be ran "out the back door" with his and everyone elses cash.
And the beat goes on..la de da de dah and so on and so on!!!!
In recent years he found out that a comeback was a big mistake cause it was 25 years too late.

Hopefully he made some "pocket change" when he re-cut "JBTFWYG".....I know the song got quite a bit of airplay when it was (re)released..

Hey Y'all.

I came to this forum in search of all things "Temptations", and it is here. But when I saw this thread title - I had to jump in. Curtis has got to be one of my top five favorite singers, and I loved and love him and his music to no end. IMO - his "Sweet Exorcist", album is his best - and in declaring that, I am saying a mouthful, 'cause he was great on all of them.

1. "Ain't Got Time"
2. "Sweet Exorcist"
3. "To Be Invisible"
4. "Power To The People"

5. "Kung Fu"
6. "Suffer"
7. "Make Me Believe In You"

All of the above are classics. I am listening to the album now. IMO - it will never go out of style. And thanks to God.

Seven cheers to Mr. Curtis "There Was No One Like Him", Mayfield.

..yess, Curtis Mayfield was a Minister N the Music World.
I admire his last CD 'New World Order', which he recorded lying on his back, due 2 a stage accident that left him paralyzed...and the Dedication CD (to Curtis), his songs were performed by Tevon Capbell, Eric Clapton, Isleys, Steve Windwood & a lot ot other artsis.
...If U haven't heard 'em, U need 2 take a listen, there still is a message N the music.
