When Tom was interviewed it was at the time Mary's book came out. He said that his affair with Mary was something he wanted left in the past because he didn't want his family to catch any grief from the press.

KevGo: That's understandable but didn't he think that his "past" would eventually catch up with him? He should be lucky his family didn't catch any grief while he & Mary were involved. Two wrongs don't make it right but that sounds a little self-serving on Tom's part, JMHO.
