IS THAT JETS AS IN BENNY AND THE JETS OR THE NY JETS?

The Jets laughed all the way to the bank. Pure bubblegum guys. Not one my all time faves but there were some great players behind the scene. My friend keyboardist Aaron Zigman was involved in their project. Aaron had feel for days and was quite young at the time of those hits. he went on to work with a lot of heavies including Phil Collins.

Here's a small list of info on Aaron:

John Q. marks the feature film debut of composer Aaron Zigman.
Previously Zigman has worked extensively as a music producer, arranger and/or writer for such recording artists as Christina Aguilera, Seal, Aretha Franklin, Oleta Adams, Phil Collins, Tina Turner, Patti Labelle, Chicago, The Jets, Nona Gaye, Carly Simon, Pointer Sisters, Huey Lewis, Dionne Warwick and Jennifer Holiday. His work has been featured on such film soundtracks as Mulan, Buster, What's Love Got To Do With It?, License to Kill, Pocohantas and Fame.

Quite impressive.

THE "JETS" HAD A PERFECT SOUND FOR 80'S RADIO (SOFT ROCK FORMATS)...AND THE SUPURBLY PRODUCED "SIMPLICITY" OF THEIR MATERIAL...COMBINED WITH MELODIC TRACKS...AND 3 1/2 TO 4 MINUTE CUTS BLENDED NICELY WITH A CLEAR AND UNCOMPLICATED LEAD VOCAL...NICE BACKGROUND HARMONIES...NOTHING SPECTACULAR...JUST PLEASANT MUSIC TO SERVE AS A BACKGROUND TO WHATEVER THE ENVIRONMENT...BUSINESS BACKGROUND MUSIC...SOFT CRUSING MUSIC IN YOUR CAR...OR TO CREATE A ROMANTIC MINDSET!!!...REALLY NICE STUFF!!!...STU

The Jets reminded me quite a bit of the "family bands" that were popular in years past.

I don't knock them because as a former radio DJ/personality, playing their records helped pay my tuition, textbooks, car insurance, rent, phone & student loan during the mid to late 1980s!

Hello everyone,

Didn't Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis produced a couple of cuts on the Jets? I think "Rock It To You" was produced by them & they got a Grammy nomination.

Peace!

Well now we know we can nominate the Jets for best family group...with the exception of the Osmonds...those guys used to rock listen to Crazy Horses and youll see what I mean they were the next best thing after the Jacksons....albeit the Partridge Family....LOL

KevGo: Ooops! Where did I get Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis from? I could swore they did work on the Jets. It must be another family act then. Big boo boo on my part.

Peace!

I saw the Jets in concert once in California and they put on a very good show. They were light and had a sound suited for pop radio but they had a clean look and sound. The Jets recorded in Minneapolis but I don't recall them ever working with Jam & Lewis.

Vandelron:
Damn! I thought I was crazy for remembering the DeFranco Family featuring Tony DeFranco!

The Cowsills did have talent, especially William & Robert Cowsill who played guitar & keyboards for the band (they wrote some of the band's material). In fact, they were offered their own sitcom in 1970 but turned it down because Columbia Pictures didn't want to cast their mom (Barbara Cowsill) in the show. So, some young up & coming actors named David Cassidy, Susan Dey & Danny Bonnaduce joined Shirley Jones in what became (you guessed it) the Partridge Family.
