Jackie Wilson was one of the most important agents of black pop's transition from R&B in to soul,

To the memory of Jack Leroy Wilson:
He held a standard of excellence in his music and career that may never be matched. The hits are countless - from "Lonely Teardrops" to "You Got Me Walking". It was a privilege to co-produce "The Greatest Hits Of Jackie Wilson" in 1998 and coordinate the re-release of his "Whispers" & "Higher And Higher" albums for Brunswick Records. Thanks, Jackie, for the music& memories.

First of all I would like to say that Jackie Wilson's music has filled my soul completely. Everyday I listen to Jackie Wilson, and I can't get enough of his music. Its like I'm addicted to it like some drug, once I have it, its going to be hard for me to gt rid of his music. If he was alive today I would love to have met him. My favorite songs are 'The Tear of the Year & My Empty Arms. But, all his songs I have heard are all my favorite.

When Carl Dixon and I were talking about Jackie Wilson it made me feel great to know that a lof of people still listen to him. Also, when I was at the Soulful Detroit event, I had a long conversation with Joe Weaver about Jackie Wilson. He told me stories about him, and how they grew up in Black Bottom. It was a fantastic expierence and I will never forget the conversation as long as I live.

Here is a lil' something from The Temptations Movie: "Here's one from Mr. Excitement Jackie Wilson. He's Reet Petite, light on his feet, his pillow never dries because he has 'Lonely Teardrops.'

Happy Birthday to Jackie Wilson "Mr. Excitement"

Thanks Tony for rembembering Jackie. Tony you ready to turn over that Native American fringe jacket to me yet? (chuckle)...!!!
Sonny, I remember when in was your birthday in 1967, the laughs & fun I shared with you, Jimmy Lee Smith, Alonzo Tucker, how you teased me about JB showing up and the joke you played with the telephone, the big laugh you & Alonzo got out of that, what fun it was being around you, and my girlfriend who called herself Jackie after you, when your son Petey was there at age 5 backstage in Brooklyn, I remember when another girlfriend tried to make you jealous at the Apollo when we sat in the front row while she spent the entire show kissing all over Sammy Ambrose & how you handled it by making out with some chick from the audience at the edge of the stage, you made me laugh, the sad time when you showed up at the Alvin during the breakup of your marriage & loss of your son, the day you comforted me with sincere words of support when Smitty died, your phylosophical veiw on life & death, I had no idea that, that would be last time we would speak again, how the news of your stroke and following events would sadden & bring me to tears, how utterly helpless I felt, but I remembered the beautiful way you had, about your earth grounded personality, all this and the joy your singing brought & comforted me,and those fabulous stage performances, splits, backover flips that took my breath away, I loved it all, whenever I pass your old apt. building the Dorchester on 63rd. in N.Y. all those memories come flooded back, you were a true & sincere friend Sonny, whom I will never forget, you are the song within my heart. Thanks for all the great times & wonderful memories. Love Ya'for all time, Lil'Soul Sis,Jeanie...wherever you are in soul heaven I know your doing one hell-a-va show!!!!!!! Hope we'll meet up again one day my friend.

Thank you for the wonderful music. We play many of your songs on my radio station (VINYL 107 in Stockholm) today. I still wonder why you were not a Motown artist.

My favorite song by him is Ive Lost You on the Brunswick label..I know some people dont like some of his stuff on the label and think its too
orchestrated but I think his voice transcended the strings and he made those songs his own..
