What is the problem with Gordon Keith? This guy has been whining about the Jackson 5 making it big at Motown ever since Steeltown's contract with them expired in July 1968. Does he seriously think he would have made them into stars?
He has milked his early association with them for all it's worth, and one way he has done it is by leading people to believe that a recording he released by a group called The Ripples and Waves Plus Michael was actually the Jackson 5. Now that someone else is making money off of it, he sues.
FROM THE GARY POST-TRIBUNE:
The suit alleges that the Gary-based Jackson 5 was improperly credited for two songs done by another Gary group, Ripples & Waves.
Steeltown Records founder Gordon Keith one of the plaintiffs in the case says Ripples & Waves was a separate music group formed by his nephew and co-plaintiff Elvy Woodard in the late 1960s.
Keith claims Jackson 5 was improperly credited for two songs on the 1996 release Jackson 5 Pre-History: The Lost Steeltown Recordings.
The songs in question are I Never Had a Girl and Let Me Carry Your School Books.
Several biographical sources have listed Jackson 5 as being formerly known in the groups early days as Ripples and Waves, or Ripples and Waves plus Michael. But the Michael never referred to Michael Jackson, Keith has maintained.

The Pre-History CD was released on Brunswick. Any comment from Kevin?

Thanks, Kevin. (Sorry - should have realised it was sub-judice)
