Sonny Boy (II) was incredible. I can't believe the emotion he wrung out of a harmonica. And what a voice. "Don't Start Me To Talkin'" is my favorite.

I believe some of those tracks listed above were done for the Trumpet label out of Jackson, Mississippi, where Sonny Boy recorded pre-1955.

And of course, that's Sonny Boy playing harp on Elmore (Elmo) James' original 1951 version of "Dust My Broom" on Trumpet.

HeyFury,
I agree
the way that he played the harp really came out very emotionally like the harp was an actual extension to his voice.
I have stuff with him
on records with Tampa Red and with Shakey Horton and with Baby Boy Warren whilst in Chicago and Detroit.

It was 1951 when Sonny Boy recorded for Lillian McMurry's
Trumpet Label.
The first release was
"eyesight to the blind"
which he later cut again in Chicago but calling it
"born blind"

In all he released
12 records in about 4 years whilst with the Jackson,Mississippi based Trumpet Label.

I love his stuff with Chicagos finest as back-up for him
Muddy Waters,
Otis Spann,
Jimmy Rogers,
with the outstanding
Willie Dixon and the superb drumming
of Fred Below.

Sonny Boy Williamson 2nd
way,way up there with
Walter Horton and Little Walter etc.

MEL
Muddy Waters,
