Ok, I believe it was N the 70's. There was a song,I don't know all the words, but I think it could've been Lyn Barry...
If the moon should tumble from the sky
If the seas should suddenly run dry
If you love me, really love me
let it happen darling, I wont care
Does anyone know exactly who recorded that song and when?
(I knnow it was recorded N the earlier years by Brenda Lee and Kate starr). Again it was recorded with more of an R&B style, probably around the 70's.
Thanx 4 your help!

I think you are referring to "If You Love Me,
Really Love Me", which is a standard and was
recorded by many. Mary Wells did it on her
"My Guy" LP from 1964. I don't remember it
from the 70s, R&B style, perhaps someone else
will.

The r&b version was done in 1956 by the Blue Notes, the original group that bore no semblence to the 70's version.

By the way,LEN Barry made 123 and like a baby as well as being leader of the Dovells.

The song is If You Love Me, Really Love Me. A lot of people have done it, including Kay Starr, who had a hit with it in 1954. Olivia Newton-John covered it in the '70s, and probably some other people did, too.

Joe--OLIVIA did this song? Aren't you confusing this song with ONJ's '74 hit "If You Love Me (Let Me Know)"?

Best,

Mark

Mary Hopkin sang it in the 70s also.
