"Oh What A Night" was had at the Clawson Steak House! Just sitting there with DeAnne and Eddie, in from Las Vegas, along with good 'ole Georgie Katsakis, Guy Gillis and Denny Cox better known at 3's Company! Then, who walks in but our very own Count, followed by Gil Bridges (Rare Earth), followed by Ed & Sue Wolfrum, Vickie Alexander who played sax with Gil and George! The best part of all though was when the SOULFULDETROIT contingency walked in!!!!!!!!! David, Harry, Carl, Kevgo, and Mark - hope I'm not forgetting anybody! Whew! RALPH WE SURE MISSED YOU! Anyway, to add to the fun, I was sitting at the table with DeAnne, the boys in the band, Dennis Coffey and George Young listening to them tell stores about the good old days in the Detroit bar scene...closed the place! Looking forward to tonight...having dinner with David and Harry at Sinbad's Restaurant, a legend in Detroit dining. Can't we do this again next week????

Lets pray all the kool krew from across the pond made it home safe, and Kev back to the BIG APPLE.
I hope we kan see this thread grow when the boys get home and visit us again, right here, watch how you drive that automobile now and dont you dare turn it into a couple tons of deadly weapon, and stay tuned as the entertainment continues.

Well, I can tell you that Mark made it safely back to Cleveland! ;)
I almost missed my bus connection--the Greyhound that I took was supposed to leave at 12:15, but there was a leak of some sort and the bus had to be taken to some garage. Fortunately, the bus arrived on time in Toledo for me to make the connection to Cleveland which left at 1:50 and I got back here at 4:25.
Anyhow, I was very impressed with the Clawson, and it was great to meet Milli Vanilli, LeAnne and the Count, as well as Gil Bridges, and it was good to meet up with Dennis and Vicki again.
I almost sat this one out, as I had no dress clothes with me (aside from my shirt). I decided to take a chance and go along. Fortunately, no one hassled me about my black jeans and tennis shoes--but I'll be sure to bring dress slacks and shoes next time around!!!
The band was fantastic--I really enjoyed LeAnne singing the Jerry Lee Lewis/Little Richard medley in particular. The biggest laugh of the evening had to be seeing Carl up on stage playing tambourine and bongos--I did a double take when I saw that!!
All in all, it was a terrific night out, and I will definitely pay a visit to the Clawson should I ever come back to Detroit. Thanks to all for their hospitality!
Best,
Mark

It was a thrill to meet everybody at Clawson and like old chums meeting after being apart for a few months. I could not believe how many forum members were there. We were made to feel at home the minute we walked in. It was a pleasure. Millie was the first to greet us, followed by all those too numerous to mention again, from above! I enjoyed meeting the band and seeing Dennis perform for the first time in my life. I wish I could join you every week at Clawson. We have heard so much about it on the forum and it lives up to its reputation. It was a wonderful atmosphere.
Count - I was impressed. The conversation about vocal harmonies is right up my street. I think you bought me a drink and I thank you. Yes, David kept up with the Jack Daniels and we suffered in the car all the way back to the hotel (only joking). We could not get him away; he wanted to stay all night.
We all felt so special and me, playing the tambourine to 'What's going on?', seemed so appropriate. Thanks to George for the invite.
Sorry for the delay in posting this. I arrived back yesterday and have not got into the 'swing' of things yet. I have many emails to write and thank you's for a great vacation on the west coast. I do not know where to start, but I will, very soon!

West Coast - I mean East Coast. I blame the jet lag and British Airways myself!

Hey Folks:
Well, I'm back at the gig here in NYC after recovering from a wild weekend of music & making friends. Like Carl, I needed a day or so to get NYC back into my system so I haven't been posting out here until now.
Being at the Clauson was wonderful! Millie was there and looking sooooo gorgeous! The Count greeted us as well - he told me he was in NYC last month for the auto show (which was held only a few blocks from my office!). So, we're definitely gonna hook up later on in the year. Meeting Dennis Coffey was indeed an honor. To think - this man created one of pop music's funkiest jams "Scorpio" (along with "Taurus") and he's having a hell of a time finding a record deal! Well, KevGo here is gonna help him fix that problem come hell or high water.
The music was fine and the atmosphere at the Clauson is soooo relaxed! We had a time trying to pull David Miekle away from the bar!!!
Overall, it was a fun time for all and the trip back to NYC was sobering to say the least. Well, gotta catch up on the work, gang! Talk to ya' later!

KevGo, thanks for the compliment! We had fun on Saturday night...thanks so much for joining us! We'll be sure and have that dance the next time you're in Detroit! We can always be found at the Clawson.
Mark, it was nice meeting you too...Cleveland isn't that far from Detroit so you should try and visit us again!
Carl, meeting you was quite an experience! I wish you could have joined us for dinner on Sunday night...between David and Harry and George K. from the Clawson, we were all in pretty good spirits...and I don't even drink!
You're all right...Detroit is special and I'm sure glad I live here. Sometimes we don't appreciate what we have until someone else points it out...thanks for that!

Hi Millie. I would have loved to have stayed a little longer and joined you. I reckon we could have done another 4 days and covered much more in the city. Clawson seemed like home, the minute you and David had eye to eye contact! A very welcoming place, full of music and friendship. Detroit is special and I will be back. This time I may try and learn to drive an automatic and hire a car. Harry made it look so simple, so I am sure I can cope. Using a gear stick is what I am familiar with and shudder the thought. Now the size of US cars seems similar to some of ours I may risk it.

Millie:
I'm planning my next trip to Detroit which may be within the next few weeks. When it's finalized I'll let everyone know. In the meantime, get your dancing shoes ready!
Carl:
Driving an automatic is soooooo much easier than driving a stick shift! I'd be happy to show you next time you're in the states.

Things have finally slowed down in Las Vegas...had to play catch up when I got back. The Clawson was so much fun on Saturday night. It was incredible meeting so many people that I had written to on the forum. Millie was a gracious hostess...and singing with the band is aways great. My thanks to Guy, George, and Denny for letting us all get up and take over the stage...they are such great guys. I missed Dave and Pam, I'm sure something came up where they couldn't make it. Thanks for a great trip!! DeAnne
