Don't know if this is the place to ask but....
.....was humming "Concrete and Clay" while weeding the yard this morning. Are you the same Dave Meikle, or am I getting you mixed up with some other bloke.....
By Davie Gordon (193.122.21.42) on Saturday, May 24, 2003 - 01:14 pm: |
Er, Douglas, just what sort of "weeds" have you got growing in your yard ??

Serious question. Dave Meikle was a guitarist for Unit 4+2, and since I have never met anyone here in person, I was just asking......
By Ralph (209.240.198.62) on Saturday, May 24, 2003 - 02:06 pm: |
Doug,
That would have to be a different David Meikle. I don't think our David plays an instrument. But he sure can put together soulful web-sites can't he?
By Ritchie (62.254.0.9) on Saturday, May 24, 2003 - 02:20 pm: |
He's right, you know!
By Ralph (209.240.198.62) on Saturday, May 24, 2003 - 02:27 pm: |
Ritchie,
there are times you just blow me away. Thanks for the pic.
By Ritchie (62.254.0.9) on Saturday, May 24, 2003 - 02:34 pm: |
Can't handle all these compliments in one day. I'll have to go and lie down ;o)
By douglasm (68.113.13.31) on Saturday, May 24, 2003 - 02:50 pm: |
Thank you, Ralph and Richie.
Davie Gordon....
....it's called Orchard Grass. No relation.
All....
....what tripped this off was the notations at allmusic.com. I had been thinking of "Concrete and Clay" as one of those non-soulful soulful songs that have a certain "feeling" about them.
Again, thank you for your answers.
By Davie Gordon (193.122.21.42) on Saturday, May 24, 2003 - 02:56 pm: |
Douglas, serious answer to a serious question.
It's a different David Meikle - the one in Unit
4 + 2 is a good bit older than our David.

I made a mistake in an earlier post....
....I have met my brother, who posts occasionally.
Davie, I ask these questions sometimes out of ignorance. Please bear with me. This place is a wonderful learning experience, and, as I've said before, I value the knoledge and experience that all of you have.
By Ritchie (62.254.0.9) on Saturday, May 24, 2003 - 04:13 pm: |
I realised that the David Meikle in the group was an imposter immediately. They were all Sassenachs!
By Eli (152.163.252.68) on Saturday, May 24, 2003 - 04:35 pm: |
Yo Buster..what up dawg???
By Davie Gordon (193.122.21.34) on Saturday, May 24, 2003 - 05:22 pm: |
Douglas, no problem. It was just that your question was the one first thing I read and I
couldn't see how you got from "Concrete And Clay"
to David - I didn't know he had a namesake in the group. My post was meant as a joke, nothing more.

Speaking of jokes - I have an eBay auction running at this moment. It's purely a system test, with nothing on offer. So far, it's attracted 34 bids, and the current price is a million pounds.

At the moment, I'm enjoying the joke - just as long as eBay don't charge me the commission!

I was in a band that covered "Concrete and Clay".
One of few bands in the US that did so....

Hey Ritchie,
when did you visit Weelbarovia?
Have you heard about the legend of
Wilhelm!!!!!!
(The Euphonium playing
groat collecting
Lumberjack)?
Or was he a Flugel-horn player?
Whatever!
mel.

Mel - I was there in '68 just before it sank beneath the waves :o)

Davie....
....no problem. A Lot of people don't realise that Central Washington (state) grows about 80% of the apples consumed in the United States, and orchard grass when in an orchard is a good thing--helps retain moisture in the soil around the trees--but in Dora's rose garden, it's a weed.
(Actually, I was expecting more grief over calling "Concrete and Clay" a non-soulful soulful song. Besides, Dave should get a good laugh over the thread when he gets back on line.....)
By douglasm (68.113.13.31) on Sunday, May 25, 2003 - 03:24 pm: |
Richie....
....noticed the auction is closed. What model Ziltch was it?
By Ritchie (62.254.0.9) on Sunday, May 25, 2003 - 03:40 pm: |
I'm afraid it turned out to be counterfeit zilch, not the genuine article.
BTW, the bidding rose to £10,000,000 in the end!
