The cover story of this week's "Entertainment Weekly" is a list of the 50 best Cult Movies. The one flick that is singled out for a three page spread is the gut-busting hilarious "Office Space". One of the funnier sub-plots of the movie is an office drone named Michael Bolton who has to grin and bear it whenever a workplace superior hears his name and starts cracking jokes or 'hey are you related to...' comments that he has to pretend he hasn't heard a thousand times before.

Quoting EW: The movie has sold more than than 2.6 million copies on VHS and DVD and has become the most unlikely cult classic. And, more important, it ruined Michael Bolton's life. (The balladeer is memorably dismissed as a "no-talent ass clown.") "They had to make that f***ing movie!" Bolton complained to Entertainment Weekly. "I was doing fine. Then they made this movie, and I can't go anywhere!"

Man, is there more proof needed that God has a sense of humor? Simply put, if you like to laugh, rent "Office Space".

Will do, John - anything that makes Ronald Isley's favorite singer :) look like a fool would make me laugh.

My favorite line in the movie is when the efficiency experts finally conduct their interview with the main character and they start off with "We notice you've been missing a lot of work lately", to which he responds, "I wouldn't exactly say 'missing'". :)

Ken

I caught the tail end of that movie on TV -- without ruining it too much, the drone guy who ends up blowing everything up is just hilarious. Everybody's got someone like that who never gets any cake ...

I've yet to see "Office Space", but I really wanted to see it when it came out! It probably would have special meaning for me, seeing as I work in an office.

Bolton does have a nice cameo as himself in the Rodney Dangerfield movie "Meet Wally Sparks", which shows that he does have a sense of humor.

I remember when Stuttering John from the Howard Stern show nailed Bolton at some movie opening (I think it was the opening of "Six Days, Seven Nights"). John threw him a couple of "fluff" questions but got Bolton to run away by asking him if he was satisfied with the size of his penis! Funny interview!

Best,

Mark
