Actually Ken Sands and Jim Vitti cruised by recently just for a quick look.
They happened to meet the new owners.. who impressed Ken and Jim when they were quite cordial and took the time to give them a look around. (Er David would that be a look 'round

Is something going on the car park at the left of the building?

Originally, was United Sound a single family home or a two-family? That house seems a bit larger that Hitsville.

David-
Next to the building was a truck which appeared to be setup for hauling junk. Ken Sands mentioned they had quite a bit work to do including removing the burlap covering the sound-absorbing material on the studio walls.
The roof had been leaking which caused some water damage there..

Julian,
Judging by the style of that building, I'd say it was a two-family flat.

Kev-
From Ken's account of his and Jim Vitti's chance meeting with the new owners, sounds like the owners have designs on how to proceed with their new facility.
Certainly Ken would feel honored if asked to provide consulting services on the project.. he mentioned the owners have an engineer so it seems they're all set in that department.

To read this is indeed great news. When they finish building, I would love to visit and someday record there.

I'm really amazed that this is happening. I recorded something there once in 1977. Thanks for the great photo..

As mhc commented it is really amazing that United is being resurrected.
Today I was treated to a look around the old place.. it was truly exciting.
There is much more work to do.. these guys are approaching this with a level of enthusiasm you've got to admire, it doesn't get any better than this.
