He recorded Motherless Child one of his signature songs on 4 different labels: Royal Roost, Savoy, Atlantic, and a live version in Japan on Onoff. 1951 thru 2001, it remains a most favorite & requested in his live performances today. People relate strongly to the loss of his mother at age 13 and his intense closeness to her even today, she was his whole world and remains so. As you witnessed friday night at Zanzibar Blue in Philly the band has the most dynomite arraingement on that with Jimmy, the audiences always go crazy on it and really show their love for Jimmy.
