I was in the car looking for a good radio station to listen to on the 405 in L.A and I just caught the ad lib at the end of a great mid tempo funky track with beautiful vocal harmonies... I don't know why but I can't put a name on the song or the group... Can someone help?
The ad lib went like this :

Teach... teach each other... We have got to teach each other well...

I know it's a long shot but if anybody has an idea I'd be gald to hear it...

Watch out Wonder B has invaded again!Make sure L.A. has enough freedom fries to hold him at bay!LOL
You didn't say whether it sounded old or new so I'll take a risk and say Buffalo Springfield-Teach Your Children.

Say hello to Lexuses77,Wicked1 and the rest of the crew for me.California knows how to party!

It sounded like 70's stuff but...
Ahhh these damn radio stations who never tell the titles of the tracks they play....

Hey $Bill I just came back from L.A... I hooked up with Dawn Silva and Mallia Franklin and with another musician producer by the name of Andre Hines who was in Blake & Hines on Motown in the 80's... he currently has several projects including some movie soundtracks... by the way he's Jesse JOhnson's cousin! LOL
I had a great time and I thought Barry would join us as I was with TTG who had come all the way from Florida for his B'Day... But it was all up to TTG and Barry to set up meetings and some thing must have gone wrong wince I didn't get to see Barry. I was on such a short stay that I wasn't even able to call him up but I'll mail him...

Anyway that drives me further from the point... THis jam I heard on KJLH still rattles my brain and I cannot find who did it....
Helllllllllllllllppppppppppp! PLeeeze!

I also think it sounds like Wake Up Everybody by
Harold Melvin & the BlueNotes.

As an aside, "Teach Your Children" was Crosby Stills and Nash, wasn't it?

Yes ,sorry off theit first CSNY L.P. shortly after Neil Young left Buffalo Springfield.Still hunting around for the tracks the Neil did with Rick James back in the day in a group called the Myna(sp?)Birds

Yes Rick did some stuff with Neil Young... And after that he did an LP as the GREAT WHITE CANE, an album that sticks in mind because of the beautiful gatefold cover with the die-cut cane...

Thanks for your tip on the Miracles... I'll go and check this out as soon as I am able to do so...

Finally got around checking that H.Melvin and the Blue Notes tip but it ain't the song at all...
Like I said the ad lib at the end goes
"Teach... teach each other... We have got to teach each other well... "
But the only other thing I can remember was that at the beginning of one verse the singer went
"What would you do...' and the whole song has very nice vocal harmonies and it's mid tempo with a funk groove...
Any other leads???

Wonder B...perhaps a cut (duet) with Ron Isley & R. Kelly from the new "Body Kiss" CD ?? (But the "teach each other well" line doesn't ring a bell...)

BTW...anytime you, RBS, or TTG hit town let ME know !! I'm outta the loop because our "other peeps" have hectic schedules !!

Hooooooooooooooooooooo Wicked..... you saved my life on this one!!!! LOL I can't even imagine that I missed this one the first time around... I do have all the MAZE Lp's but I never recognized F.Beverly's voice on that one... But it was in the car and there was a lot of noise going on so that may be the reason, I,ll have to recheck those LP's...
Thanks for the tip anyway
Yes indeed I'ill let you know the next time I am in town... We need to hook up! LOL

Wonder B...I don't know that this Maze cut is available yet. I'm thinking it's from something unreleased (at this time)...and it makes sense because the lead vocal doesn't sound like the Frankie Beverly of old...and the recent throat surgery may have changed his voice a little. Anyway...this song is on Capitol, their label "home" since "While I'm Alone".

Help needed on another song then! A few weeks back when my daughters were dragging me around some clothes shops in Leeds, I heard a few bars of a song I recognised. The song was 'Solar Flight' by (I think) Mandre on Motown records - a 70s synth disco type instrumental. This song though just sampled the main theme and bass-line and some girl sang a new song over the top. And pretty good it was too! Any ideas, anyone?
