EVER WENT TO A CONCERT, PAID $50.00, AND WENT AWAY TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED, WITH ALL THE ADVANCES IN MUSIC TECHNOLOGY, WHAT ARE SOME OF THE PROS (we all know about the cons) & CONS ON THIS ISSUE. DOES IT MAKE GOOD MUSICIANS & SINGERS GREAT, OR DOES IT GIVE US MORE FRAUDS. AND IN THE LONG RUN WILL THERE BE ANY STEVIE WONDERS AND QUINCY'S LEFT IN THE BUSINES

I think the advantage is when it comes to the keyboards mainly and you can make them sound like different instruments. I went to see Gary Brooker and Procol Harum in 1992 and they didnt have a symphony up there but it sounded like it there were only six people in the band. They are great by the way if you have never seen them.
Gary Brooker is one of the best British vocalists along with Eric Burdon who I have seen live and both of these guys are awesome!!! When it comes to overdubbing voices I think technology is great and when it enhances an instrument. BUT when you just have a drum machine and a bunch of fake tapes that is when it SUCKS!!!!! Man Bobby Eli and Stubass and Dennis Coffey would have a fit if they had fake guitars in their songs there would be no reason to have them there!!!! Russ and Ralph wouldnt have much to mix....LOL Man it puts people out of jobs too, that is what is wrong now there is nothing for a record company to do but to just think of ways to make the young male or female singer sexy and then come up with a stupid beat AND have you noticed they put more care into the video these days than they do the music!!!
That is the problem with technology it can be a good thing but it can also be horrific in the wrong hands..

I try to sit near the sound person, sound board..I figure they have to make it sound good from where they are and most of the time it does..
If my seat is elswhere I'll look and move near the sound board if there's a seat..and most of the time the sound is better from where I moved..
I'd rather have better sound that see someone up close...

I despise that vocal "re-tuning" gizmo that is everywhere on pop and country radio nowadays. And wait till you see a show where a couple of guys sit in front of their computers and type--that's impressive and a lot of fun I tell ya. Don't get me started on ProTools....I know it's very convenient, etc I just don't like it.

Hey, I'll sure give it a shot as with technology moving as fast as it is, anything is possible.
Just draw a waveform in thin air and..voila!!!!

Technology can never be a substitute for talent. It can enhance it, help it to be heard to it's best advantage, but never replace it. It's like the old computer saying "garbage in- garbage out".
