I APPRECIATE YOUR SENTIMENTS LUCY...AND PRAY FOR LUTHER LIKE EVERYONE ELSE...HOWEVER...ONE MUST WONDER...SOMEWHERE IN THE BACK OF OUR MINDS...THAT...IS THE RELEASE OF THIS RECORDING...SOME SORT OF CRASS COMMERICALISM ON THE PART OF LUTHERS RECORD COMPANY...RAKING IN THE SYMPATHETIC BUCKS WHILE LUTHER FIGHTS FOR HIS LIFE???...NOT STATING FACT...JUST WONDERING...IT'S HAPPENED BEFORE!!!...STUBASS

Stu....the CD is due next month, so I doubt "J" Records is dirty this time. "Dance With My Father" is probably the 1st single anyway.
Lucy..you are soooo right. The song is a tear jerker...but it is a beautiful song. I lost my father during finals of my junior year of High School...and this song brought back so many memories of him. (In the car when I heard it, I had to "compose myself" before I reached my destination.)

Stu:
I have colleagues at J Records/BMG Music. They confirm that "Dance With My Father" was the first single Luther & Clive had selected prior to his illness, mainly because his last hit "I Rather" is what propelled the sales of his prior album on J Records.

The song was also sung by Tamyra Gray at the close of last week's BOSTON PUBLIC.

KEV & WICKED: NO PROBLEM HERE WITH A PLANNED RELEASE...JUST THE TIMING MADE ME WONDER!!!...AND IT CERTAINLY NEVER HURTS THE RECORD COMPANY TO RELEASE A SINGLE WHEN AN ARTIST IS IN THE NEWS LIKE LUTHER CURRENTLY IS...SO LONG AS THEY DID NOT TAKE AN UNFINISHED PRODUCT...MICKEY-MOUSE IT TOGETHER...AND RELEASE IT TO CAPITALIZE ON A CERTAIN SITUATION!!!...AS YOU'LL RECALL...SELENA'S ENGLISH DEBUT ALBUM WASN'T HURT..SALES WISE...BY HER UNFORTUNATE PASSING!!!...STU

The cd is scheduled for release a few days before Father's Day...so it makes sense they chose this single. Getting a bit cynical, huh? LOL
It is an especially poignant song under the circumstances though.

Everyone:
I just heard Dance With My Father and I am sitting here still quite stunned. It is not Luther's normal style and it is simply done and beautiful. In fact, it is eerie to listen to knowing Luther's background with his family. I too lost my father very young and the pain is still palpable. I think this will be one of this biggest hits. I pray and hope that this song is the beginning of a new chapter in Luther's amazing career and not an epitaph.

that song is angelic!!!!!!!!!I love it! it is so touching, let s all continue to pray for Luther Van Dross, he will rise again. Tom Joyner interviewed Luther's mom and played snipets from that song during the interview. Tom had it going on tht day. It was last week, the nationally designated 12:00 noon Luther pray day.

Vonnie and I heard it today at around noon on wdas and the tears started to drop on my steering wheel. We both lost our fathers and it hit home ten fold.
The lyrics and the melody mesh so well coupled with Luther's present condition were just too much to comprehend while in city traffie and we had to stop and compose ourselves before picking up Jimmy and Jeanie Scott.
