Hi gang, I just added a webisode on the ruins of Detroit's legendary Book Cadillac. Pack your suitcases and book a room before she is restored, or worse. CLICK HERE to check in. Enjoy!
And don't forget to leave your memories.

Great pictures Lowell! I liked the panoramic functions and the shots from the roof. Do you know when the hotel closed down?

Hey gang, believe it or not I was actually the Front Office Manager at the Radisson Cadillac back in 79-80. I have several great memories.
I was privledge and honored to wheel down Joe Lewis from his suite. I am sure he was staying there due to the opening or of the ground breaking of the Joe Lewis Sports Arena. He was in very tough shape, but to meet a living legend was something I will always remember.
In adition, Tommy "Hit Man" Hearns and his manager Emmanuel Steward was staying with us.
Mr. Steward kept adding rooms to his block and when he was checking out he refused to pay the bill for the extra rooms that they had agreed to pay for. My General Manager was furious with them and kicked them out of the property. I never did find out how that worked out as I was transfered the next week to Saginaw Michigan.I had the destinction of being the last Radisson Manager transfered out of the property- we lost the contract shortly after that.
I remember Tommy Hearns coming to the front desk with his boom box- I would have never in a million years guess that he was a boxing champion.
Ronad Reagan also stayed with us during his campaign for president. Did not meet him but it was pretty cool I know that he took up an entire floor with his secret service staff.
I hope they can salvage the property. It was quite an experience.
I really enjoyed going to lunch at the original Lafayette Coney Island- nothing like that anywhere else in the world.
