It was back here in Detroit, in late 1965, and early into the early part of 1966....

This song was definately a jukebox 'favorite' that we would had always favored, would always play, the B side of the Temptation's *hit* record (I believe it was this one)... "My Baby".

The 'flip' B side of that Motown '45 rpm, was none other than Paul William's (and, it was just a beautiful) vocal rendition that he gave us with the release, "Don't Look Back".

Man, that Paul Williams song was 'classic' Temptations!

Love Makes Me Do Foolish Things/Never Leave Your Baby's Side/One Way Out/Forget Me Not/I Tried- Martha & the Vandellas....Martha had loads of them...
My Weakness is You/Running Back And Forth-Edwin Starr
Fading Away-Temps
Fork In The Road/Save Me- Miracles
Who Could Ever Doubt My Love/There's No Stopping Us Now/Going Down For The Third Time-Supremes
Tune Up - Junior Walker
The Day You Take One, You Have To Take The Other - Marvelettes
Baby I've Got It/Everybody Needs Love/World So Wide....-Jimmy Ruffin

There were many more.....

Was this the same "Ebony Eyes" as the Rick James/Smokey duet?

I saw the "Superfeak" video on tv today. That's over 20 years old! Wow.

Rex Garvin, Sock it to 'em JB part 2, Third Party, Such a Soul Says part 2, Bobby Wells, Psychadelic Theme, Edwin Starr, Back Street & Agent O O Soul, Jackie Wilson, I'm the One To Do It, Looking at John Lester's list (he's OK to say he's from Essex) reminds me of 2 LP tracks from the same LP by Stevie Wonder that were played at the Mojo Club in Sheffield, England (our version of Pittsburg) `Love A Go Go` but best of all `I want My Baby Back`. Julian - different EBONY EYES. The Stylistics' version is a poppy mid-tempo track that I love. Somehow on CD it doesn't sound as good as my scratchy 45 - I keep waiting to hear the bumps on the vinyl.

A flip-side oops: When James Brown, king of the B-sides, issued "Make It Funky," Part 1 and Part 2 had been the top and back, respectively. When Polydor issued the sequel, the top side marked Part 3 was actually Part 4, and the B-side marked Part 4 was actually Part 3.

HW, maybe we can call the JB record a "flip-flop" hit. LOL

Mary Wells' records ALWAYS had great B-sides,
many which charted right along with the intended
A-sides:
Two Lovers/Operator
You Beat Me To The Punch/Old Love
Your Old Standby/What Love Has Joined Together
You Lost The Sweetest Boy/What's Easy For Two
(both of these went top 10 R&B!)

After leaving Motown this tradition continued
with her releases: The Doctor/Two Lovers History
on Jubilee were two of the best.

I agree with HW on the Stylistics' "Ebony Eyes" - great flip.
Another great flip was "If I Loved You" the b-side to the classic "Stop Look Listen (To Your Heart)."

Other great flips...
"Who's Lovin' You","One More Chance" & "I Found That Girl" - all Jackson 5 b-sides ("I Want You Back","ABC" & "The Love You Save" respectively).

"Call Me"- Aretha Franklin (A-side: "Spanish Harlem")

"Choosey Beggar" - Smokey & the Miracles (A-side: "Going To A Go-Go")

"Why Do I Keep Living These Memories" - Jean Knight (A-side: "Mr. Big Stuff)

"V.I.P." - Honey Cone (A-side: "Stick Up")

"The Fairest Of Them All" - Jackie Wilson (A-side: "Whispers (Gettin' Louder)")

"Ain't No Way" - Aretha Franklin (A-side - "Since You've Been Gone")

"Cafe Regios" & "Ellie's Love Theme" - Isaac Hayes ("Theme From Shaft" & "Do Your Thing" the A-sides)

"I Can't Help It" - Michael Jackson (A-side: "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough").

Dave,
The side 'PUT IT OUT OF YOUR MIND'
is the side!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A lot of people dont seem to know it and believe me it is a lot better than 'this feeling I have'.
I cant state how much this side just rocksssss.
Great side though 'this feeling I have' is,
brother you aint heard nothing until you flip that disc over.
It was played around the late 70's but just seemed to stop and the other side(a)side was always played.
So Dave,
try to dig it out mate,
(as Dave Godin used to say)
This gets My Seal of approval!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cheers
mel.
