It's really enjoying 2 buy a record/Cassette/CD and like it, and go 2 C that same artist/artists Live & N Person and they sound even better.
Nowadays, U buy a CD, like it, go C that artist/artists Live & N Person, and they sound terrible. I said that 2 say this >the difference is, some vocalists can really sing naturally with or without music, they don't need all the different machines & Nstruments 2 make them sound good,It's Real. How many of us have gone 2 Concerts expecting 2 hear a special artist and came out disappointed? (They were no longer N the Studio, but on their own) but that's the way of the world...(no doubt).,,Let The Music Play On & On~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Old school artists put in the work....often from street corners to local "joints" to the chitlin circuit before they reached stardom. They studied their craft and mastered it and because of those factors are as good today as they were decades ago
(think Dells, Dramatics, etc). New school artists have the benefit of studio technology that can make ANYONE sound great (recorded)...but they haven't done what it takes to sound even *okay* live. Also, too many artists of recent years have gotten contracts because they have "the look" some label head is looking for...not because they have talent. Take Vesta Williams for example. Vesta is among the elite with her vocal prowess...and is naturally funny to boot, but her options were quite limited at the time because of her weight. The labels would rather push someone who has half the talent but looks better in a a mini skirt or some other low cut body molded outfit.
Bottom line: Ole skool is about talent and new skool "AIN'T".

wBottom Line; you are so right, add Ole Skool was also about training too, lessons passed down from the elders about stage ediquate because they'd pull an artist offstage in a hot N.Y. minute if they weren't right. It was also about respect for show business, a way of life, the only life many artist ever had or known, they cared about how they presented themselves and how they showcased their talent. Todays crop never benefitted from that type of mentorship, the repect & quality of talent for the most part is long gone and thats sad.
