I was just listening to the Who's rendition of Leaving Here on their BBC album and it is great. Who first recorded that song, since the booklet says that it was Obscure Motown gem releaded in the U.S. in Decembewr of 1963.

The song was also covered by a British group named the Birds, whose best-known member was Ron Wood, if memory serves me correctly!

Tommy Good
also did a version on the flip side to his
Gordy recording(no.7034)of 'Baby I Miss you'.
But for me,
even today when I get it out,it's the fast and furious version of Eddie Holland's cut that has me forever playing it at full volume all the time.
A great, great record to get the joint rocking and always has a good floor reaction whenever I have heard it at a club.

And there are two versions--one good, one great--by Ann Arbor soul-garage legends, The Rationals. The one on A-Square is longer and stronger, but the one on Cameo isn't bad either.
Didn't Jimmy Hanna do it on Seafair Bolo as well? No doubt there are a lot of other versions, too.

You guys are amazing. What a resource.
I found this site whilst searching for The Rationals. Not sure of its accuracy or depth, but it's someone's labor of love.

Hey Lars,

All Hitsville Acetates.
Eddie Holland.
I Like Everything About you.
Love Is What You Make It.
Welcome Back.
Twin Brother.
Holland/Dozier also on Hitsville Acetate.
In The Neighbourhood
supposedly a.k.a 'On The Avenue'.
Can you give me the number of 'Just a few more day's'by Eddie Holland,as I am looking at the promotional Motown copy and the number looks like M-1036.
Thanks
mel.

Is there a compilation CD of the complete works of Eddie Holland? I've really only heard "Jamie" and "Leaving Here" and would like to hear more.

the now defunct Marginal label out of Belgium put out a CD that had about 30 Eddie Holland songs. The quality wasn't the best. You might find it if you shop around.

Anyone tell me why "You deserve what you get" on Motown 1026 is rarer than hen's teeth? Did Motown pull the issue?
Eddie also recorded a knock out version of "Take me in your arms (rock me a little while)" which I'd bet was earlier than Kim's........
