Motown masters to be honored

(CNN) -- The writers of indelible tunes such as "Stop! In The Name of Love," "How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By You" and more than 200 other songs, will be inducted into Hollywood's Rock Walk this month.


Renowned songwriting trio Holland-Dozier-Holland, known as the creators of the Motown sound, are credited with turning the fledgling Detroit record company into a music revolution.

The prolific composers have landed on the pop charts with 130 songs. More than 70 of those songs have been top 10 hits while more than 20 have reached No. 1.

The event will be open to the public May 12 on Hollywood's Sunset Boulevard.

The songwriters will also be honored as the 2003 BMI Icon recipients. They will receive their awards at the 51st Annual BMI Pop Awards dinner on May 13.

Hi Vickie,
You know... we always see talk about all the Motown artists that Berry Gordy has evered assembled, but little is known of the various producers that Motown really had, and we are now beginning to get around the 'Funks', some forty years after the fact.

But there was never quite the songwriting team that anyone had ever put (many number one) songs together, fortunate to be under one roof at Motown... that's Detroit's own Holland-Dozier-Holland.

HDH were the ultimate 'number one' hit-making machine at Motown. They definately deserve their reserved spot, anywhere... whenever they are so recognized, and wherever... they are so (highly) honored....
