These two giants helped to lay the foundation of soul music. I say let's pay tribute to them whilst they're still with us.
Do I remember when "Stand by me" and "I don't want to cry" ruled the airwaves !!! Beautiful memories.
Let's hear from the rest of the family.

"Any Day Now" by Chuck is my JAM!
I also dig "Hey, Girl" by Freddie Scott.
So this is where soul began, huh? I think you have something there.
I like those Doo Woppy Soul songs like, for instance, Ty Hunter "Loney Baby," and "Everytime," Also I must add to the list, don't laugh... "Shama Lama Ding Dong" by Otis Day and the Knights.

That is the stuff that I was raised on and the mainstay in my early years of being a music man.

Hi!
About recent recordings by those two greats:
Ben E. King is still around, but the latest cd by him, Shades Of Blue, on Half Note Records, is pure jazz.
Has Chuck Jackson recorded anything since his beach cd, I'll Never Get Over You, on Wave Records in the 90s?
Best regards
Heikki

Ben E. King also did a GREAT duet with Dee Dee
Sharp on Atco and, of course, Chuck Jackson
dueted with Maxine Brown on Wand. Both of these
guys not only sing great, but are super performers
as well.

That's right, kiddies! The man who brought you "Human", "I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself", "Lover", "The Biggest Man" "I Am A Witness" and other classics.

R&B,
I keep on hoping that Chuck will get that credit due to him,
'Any Day Now'.
And when the world finally wakes up and honour's Chuck,
then along with Mr.Ben E.King
nobody will have to
'Cry No More'.

Tommy Hunt a best friend of my back in the day best friend Sammy Ambrose. I remember one balmy summer afternoon we all went up to Tommy's crib, sat in a cicle on the floor while Tommy rolled joints as big as cigars and held court,(chuckle) it's funny some of the things we recall from memory lane...He use to stop in The Wagon Wheel alot on 45th. Street in Manhattan, where Sammy sang out front of the house band.

SoulSister,
I mentioned this before, but will say it again.
I had the pleasure of meeting Tommy Hunt with a few mates of mine whilst at a soul club where Tommy was due to sing Live.
Anyway we all got a drink in or two,and Tommy was well up for it.
We were all winding people up having a good laugh and more ale was flowing.
Tommy was one great guy,
who could give a joke and certainly took everything we gave him.Unfortunatly it was getting near the time for Tommy to get ready for his spot,
when we had to leave I always remember Tommy sat on a chair and letting rip with more jokes and imitations.
As well as being one great artist,
he was also one great and down to earth guy.
Thanks for the Memories Tommy.
