Is it true The All Stars only recorded with Jr.,
on the early tunes?Listening to my "Nothing But Soul"compilation, most tunes sound like Jr.& The
Funk Brothers.

AFAIK, the only studio album that featured the All-Stars exclusively was the "Soul Session" LP which was recorded prior to Harvey Fuqua's label being rolled into Motown and released in the wake of the success of "Shotgun". It's a pretty good all instrumental album, actually.

Even the "Back Street Boogie" album recorded in 1979 for Norman Whitfield's post-Motown label featured Jack Ashford, Bongo Eddie, and "Wah Wah" Watson.

Ken

I've been gone for a week, but after posting this, I noticed there was another thread on almost the same subject with the heading "All Stars". It seems to have gone off on a slight tangent, but the early posts are related to the topic at hand.

Regards,
Ken
