Anybody have any info on this group/record ?

Spartans on ERA 930 "I Don't Need Another Lover" b/w Forget Her Name"

I can't find it listed anywhere in any of the price guides or discographies but it seems to be in demand in the UK. Any and all info will be appreciated.

Wow ! I thought by now I'd be flooded with responses on this, with all the knowledgeable folks here. Or maybe this one just dropped off the radar screen with all the new threads started since then. Again, any and all input is appreciated.

Hi Jim! Sadly I know nothing about the tune or label. It seems you have the same radar screen I have. I think it may need re-booting. The label looks good and had I seen it in a shop I certainly would have been interested. Is it any good?

Ah finally some input. Thanks guys. Yes it's a nice record. "I Don't Need Another Lover" is a dancer with a strong group, solid bass line, a prominent synth in the background and a brief flute solo. "Forget Her Name" is a decent mid tempo track, also with a noticeable synth part. The date on the label shows it to be from 1976. Writers credits on both tunes are L. DeNeal and P. Warren. I saw the copy currently on ebay and recently sold a copy on ebay myself at a respectable price. Thus my curiosity about the record has been raised.

Where does the Era Label
that Jewel Akens recorded on from?
I know its a different one(isnt it)as its earlier and orange in colour unless they are connected.
I see this is dated 1976 so thats well out of my range.
cheers
mel.

Mel,

The Era label you're talking about was from LA
- that one last from around '56 - '69 and managed
to issue nearly 400 singles.

This other Era label seems to have been a one-shot. I wonder if, in this case, Era was named
after the Equal Rights Amendment which was big
news in '76 ( it was about equal pay / conditions
for women doing the same jobs as men). Just
a thought .........
