DOES ANYONE KNOW WHATEVER HAPPENED TO MICHAEL THEVIS. HE WAS HEAD OF GRC (ATLANTA). THIS COMPANY LASTED FROM EARL SEVENTIES TO 1976.

MR. THEVIS WAS ALSO INVOLVED IN THE PORNO BIZ. IF MEMORY SERVES ME CORRECTLY, WAS HE NOT SNATCHED FROM PRISON BY HIS CRONIES.

GRC HAD SOME REAL HEAVYWEIGHT ON THIER ROSTER, SUCH AS:LOLEATTA HOLLOWAY, JIMMY LEWIS, JOHN EDWARDS, RIPPLE AND OTHERS. I ALWAYS THOUGHT GRC WAS GONNA RUN WITH THE REAL SOUL MUSIC BALL, THEN THINGS CRASHED IN 1976.

ANYMORE MORE INFO ON MICHAEL THEVIS?

Yes , the Sound Pit was a subsidiary of Mike Thevis enterprises.
They were on their way to becoming a major force in the industry.
A friend of mine, promo man extrodinere Oscar Fields worked there for a time.
I played on some sessions there as well. The tracking room was actually in a pit-like setting with the large control room looking down and around the room.
I almost was gonna produce terry Collins for GRC as he lived in ATL , not far from the studio, but just then Mike "went away on vacation to Club Fed"

I really got around didnt I????
Jeez.where havent I recorded??

I would have given anything to have even visited Hitsville back then.
I guess I'll do it in May!!
Beter late than never.

Hey Bobby;
You sure got around.
I just played "The show must go on". Boy, Terry sounds very close to David Ruffin. He could surely make a terrific Temps lead if he got his act together.

Could you give some details on the sessions you did at Sound Pit, Sounds intriguing.

If I recall correctly, his cronies used a helicopter to snatch Michael from the prison grounds. He really liked to go first class, I guess.!!!

Hi Soulpuss,

It was so long ago, around '75 I believe.
I do not remember the artist but Oscar Fields had me in there laying down some guitar parts for a female singer. It may have been Lolita H.
Dont remember the names of the songs.
Terry was all set to record when the fiasco went down.

He was a dynamic entertainer , albeit self destructive and his own worst enemy.
He could have been a star and a writer to be reckoned with as well.

The Show must go on was written in less than one hour!!! Most of his stuff was like that as he had the knack for "diarrhea of the pen"

I really enjoyed working with him when I did
I hope he is all right .
