What's on the Tempts' dvd? Old stuff, new stuff, a collection of stuff or 1 concert? Curious, Erik

ErikT - I think it's the Temptation Movie. Even though I have the SITSOM DVD, I will purchase that DVD, its a great deal. I can give the SITSOM as a gift and keep the DVD Temptation Movie.

It's the Temptations movie that NBC-TV aired in 1998.
The CD/DVD store I work at turned down the offer to sell both the Tempts amd SITSOM. Instead, we're selling both the soundtrack CD and DVD for $15.99.

Wow! This deal was better than originally indicated here. Got mine yesterday! Aside from being on sale AND getting "The Temptations" movie with it, it came with a $5 mail-in rebate offer to boot. BestBuy can be pretty cool.

It was such a good deal, I was tempted (no pun intended) to buy two sets. I can hardly wait to watch them all!

Does anyone know when the 4 DVD deluxe set is coming out, or is it already out?

What the heck was I thinking. If I had read this thread first I would have picked up the soundtrack too while I was there. No Problem though.....I'll just go back!!!

Wow - this was awesome! Picked up ours today at my local Best Buy (at above price, and with the $5.00 rebate) --- watched SITSOM tonight on our 50 inch projection TV with surround sound (turned up high) and the lights out!!! I'm muchly impressed! I felt the soul and spirit of the Funks right in my own home!! First, the movie was great - the music, the documentary, the "then and now" pictures, and the entire production! It was so cool for me to now connect the names with the actual faces, especially with those on this forum!! Also, now I know what Dennis Coffey looks like too! And the brief moment of Joe Weaver was unexpected and neat! The statement made is true - the "front" artists get all the credits and limelight, whereas the background musicians and vocals get little. These background artists deserve the same amount of credit (and thensome) as those "name" artists whom they back up! It's wonderful that a movie was made of all those very talented musicians, now available for everyone to see in the comforts of their own livingrooms! That's the best $15.95 ever spent!! (And I have the Temps on VHS and saw it twice already, but I'll definitely watch it on the DVD that came with this set.!

Yeah, StingBee. When the 4-disc set comes out, I'll be happy to buy it, too. (The 2-disc set was such a good deal.) I know it's usually a marketing scheme to make fans buy a title all over again. But in this case I wouldn't mind.

Let me concur with the above comments. It was fantastic!!!! Nuff said!

Yes, the DVDs are GREAT and full of all sorts of stuff. But, I was surprised when it mentioned that Benny Benjamen played drums on "Please Mr. Postman"....I had always heard stories that Marvin Gaye was the drummer on that tune.

Interesting tech stuff here.
SITSOM DVD set.

The first disc:
The DVD Dolby Sound is 6.1 EX channel
If I switch my Outlaw 1050 receiver to 5.1
it automatically switches back to 6.1.
Now I happen to actually have 3 surround speakers wired as Left Surround, Center Surround and Right Surround. However if I only had 2 surrounds all the common surround information would be lost!
Hmm...

That same Outlaw 1050 Receiver does not play DTS 6.1(DTS ES) but only DTS 5.1.
So it takes the original DTS 6.1 and plays it as a 5.1 and with this receiver it SEEMS that the 2 channel DTS surrounds play louder than the 3 channel Dolby surrounds...Again hmm....

This is not really a probem but just an observance.

The second disk (bonus): only plays Dolby 5.1

Again not a problem ..just an observance.

I haven't had a chance to play everything yet but I'm looking forward to it! :-)))

I almost got through the 2nd disk before work today.

Great interviews, stories, facts and background music. I have yet to get to the DVD-ROM (play it on your computer) section. This is extremely well put together.

Disc-1 was a joy ! Can't wait to get to disc-2. This set will definitely get lots of repeat viewings. As a musician myself, I really appreciated the discussions of the jazz and afro-cuban musical influences. It was very enlightening.
