i've seen a few threads lately asking if a certain
group will have a reunion. name a group or more
that you would like to see reunited maybe tour
or record.besides the ever debatable supreme tour. i'll start the ball to rolling.
1. commodores&lionel ritchie
2. stylistics&russell thompson
3. miracles&smokie robinson

All the remaining Motown acts and The Funk Brothers. Does that count as an idea? I'd sooner see the Funks back playing with the Tops, the Tempts, Martha Reeves and Mary Wilson, no matter how good the new people are.

I would love to see Eli with the Four Tops and the Funk Brothers. I would be completely satisfied.

I think Smokey & the Miracles got together this year for a private party. I think the party was in honor of Berry Gordy or Motown. According to HW, the Miracles took the stage & did "You've Really Got A Hold On Me". Harry wrote it up & it's on a post on the www.motown.com site. Maybe someone had a video camera.

And everything Tony and Fayette said. We got the message the Funks were the Motown sound. Now lets get them back with real Motown singers.

REGARDING SMOKEY AND THE MIRACLES AND CLAUDETTE.
I RECALL HARRY POSTING THAT IT WAS A HEROES AND LEGENDS EVENT.THIS IS JANIE BRANFORDS EVENT AND BERRY GORDY WAS BEING HONORED.HARRY GAVE A WONDERFULL RECAP ON THE MOTOWN SITE. THE EVENT WAS VIDEOTAPED AND OFFERED FOR SALE.I'M SURE THEY RECEIVED THOUSANDS OF REQUESTS INCLUDING MINE.THE OFFER WAS RECINDEDWITHIN A FEW DAYS AND WE NEVER HEARD ANY MORE ABOUT IT.
EVERYONE WAS CRUSHED..I'M STILL HOPING TO SEE
THE MIRACLES WITH SMOKEY AND CLAUDETTE REUNITED.
THEY ARE A VERY CLASSY GROUP.

the drifters??? and what about eugene record
doing something with the chi-lites
By KevGo (64.115.26.80) on Thursday, April 17, 2003 - 05:13 pm: |
As I may have mentioned in the PBS thread, Euguene Record is committed to his life and career in the church & Gospel music. He will only appear with the Chi-lites for special events (high-profile award ceremonies such as the R&B Heritage Awards or hometown-based anniversary shows).

Having spoken to wendell sawyer recently, I believe that I could be the catalyst for the ultimate reunion of ted Mills with the group and I know that there is a good recording contract for them waiting to be signed.
Are you reading this Jehryl Busby?????

The Blue Notes (with Teddy Pendergrass)
The Delfonics (Wilbert, William and Randy, with Major Harris making a guest appearance)
The Manhattans (w/Gerald, Blue, Sonny and Wally)
The O'Jays (w/Lavert, Williams and Strain) and the Fabulous Trammps
By SisDetroit (68.42.209.170) on Thursday, April 17, 2003 - 09:22 pm: |
Well, then you can just give me Bobby Eli with MFSB, along with the Ojays, or Manhattans.

I love your idea ted cogswell. There's a wealth of classic Gamble/Huff material on those two albums. It's nice and convenient how they've combined them for 'The Philadelphia Sessions' on CD.
By ted cogswell (69.3.232.149) on Thursday, April 17, 2003 - 10:37 pm: |
Those sessions stand as Jerry's finest moment john dixon.

Fayette:
Eugene left the Chi-lites in the late 1980s to pursue a career in Gospel music. His last records with the Chi-lites were released through the Private I label.
