Does anyone out there know whatever happened to a Chicago group called The Lovelites? I believe Denise Williams was in the last stages of the group (briefly). I wonder what happened to the rest of the members?

Last I heard Pattie Hamilton the lead singer of the Lovelites worked for Chicago Transit or whatever they call the bus and rail system there. But that was some time ago and she could be doing something else now. Don't know anything about the others. I still like their "How Can I Tell My Mom and Dad (That I've Been Bad)" and "My Conscious," which sounds uncannily like Martha & the Vandellas' "Show Me The Way."

Group members: Patti Hamilton, her sister Rozena Petty and Barbara Peterman. Peterman was replaced by Ardell McDaniel 1968. Petty was replaced by Joni Berlman 1970.
This record was first released on Lock 723. The B-side is a sing along version called HEY! STARS OF TOMORROW (This side was recorded without the lead voice so you can sing "How Can I Tell My Mom and Dad" Sing, Baby). The song peaked at No. 15 on the Billboard Soul Chart 1969.

I got my copy of the Lovelite Years, I believe, at discol.com or rockclassics.com. Check them out. If you don't see it listed, ask. They're both nice places to deal with. My CD has all they're recorded material, I believe.

Mom and dad is on the Felix Hernandez Rhythm Revue boxed set.
The set is hard to find but is worth having as is the Rhino 5cd Box of 45's soul collection.

Joni Berlmon used did a lot of session work with Theresa Davis during the late-seventies through the mid-eighties backing people like Walter Jackson, Tyrone Davis, etc. Theresa told me that Joni retired from music after marrying a minister.

I heard that a CD compilation had been issued in Chicago on a small local label but after searching for months I am beginning to think I will not be able to find that one...
