A couple of years back I managed to track down some of the people involved in the Card label. The label only put out two records but there was some serious talent behind them. The records were cut at United Sound in about 1962 with Popcorn Wylie, Don Davis, and Lamont Dozier being the supposed studio musicians.
The Brooks Brothers from the Impressions were involved in the label along with the label having The Leaping Flames and Wyatt "Big Boy" Sheppard in their talent pool. When I was tagging along with one of the label founders that is when I met Dusty Wilson. When Graham was over last year we learned that Dusty is now in Soul Heaven.
Later,
Eric

Great Scans,
I have read about the Brooks Brothers etc that you mention above.
The Dusty Wilson that you mention
is this the same Dusty Wilson that recorded on
Zebra Records
Bronse Records
Mutt Records
as I am sure a Dusty Wilson also recorded on the Battle Record Label as well.
Many Thanks
mel.

Hi Eric, the 2 brothers who were in The Impressions were Arthur and Richard. I think they left the group in 1962.
I'm not sure who H Brooks is - see the first scan.
Cheers, Graham

Eric,
Thanks for the info. on Card.
There was a one-shot (?) Card label distributed
by Roulette which issued a single by a group called the Dedications - apparently in '62.
I'm trying to find out fuller details so I can post them.

Hello! Graham I've got some copies of the contracts somewhere with the Brooks Brothers signatures. Maybe the first initial was a mistake on the label.
The Brooks Brothers had the record "Lookin For A Woman" on Tay records and had a part in The Sequins record on Detroit Sound. Did they have any other Detroit records that they did?

C Bell, the Brooks Brothers wrote the flip side of an early Mary Wells' single.

C.Bell/Eric:
I have a few singles on the Mutt label out of Inkster. Any word on who owned Mutt? Where did they record in Michigan?

Eric,
"Taylor and Turner Productions" had an office on 12th Street in the 60s.
Kevgo - Mutt was owned by Nate Sheppard.

9846 12th was also the home of Tay Records.
Brooks Brothers "Looking for a woman" was released on it. All fits in nicely.
Building sadly demolished, like most significant addresses on 12th(Rosa Parks)Street.
