Hey All
Just bought "Motown Delights: Soft Centered Soul", which should be required listening for everyone.
Anyways, who can tell me about the track mentioned in the subject line? The liner notes mentioned Levi as singing it, but, it sure doesn't sound like him...doesn't have the lower, richer range that Levi has. I could for sure be wrong though, so...any info is appreciated!
Thanks,
Michael

That's not Levi singing lead on "Feels Like Fire," originally from the Four Tops Second Album, it's the late Lawrence Payton.

The Four Tops Second Album is my favorite Four Tops album. It's loaded with could-have-been hits that stayed buried on the LP. "Feels Like Fire" was one of my favorites cuts.

The acetate of What You Gonna Do With Me, Baby which has been circulating for years...........that is also Lawrence Payton on lead vocal.
I always considered Lawrence injected new life into "California Dreamin'". I prefer his version to the Mamas and the Papas
