Only thing I know is that this is not recorded at Stax studios in Memphis. I think I heard somewhere it was recorded in NY and leased to STAX/VOLT.

You're probably right about it being an NY recording as not only is it McCoy - Cobb song it's also their production.
At that time Stax were picking up
masters from production companies all over the States - a lot of the one-shot acts on Stax /
Volt were masters bought in by Al Bell.
