I think he might be the Jimmy Jones who was a
staff producer / writer at One-Derful / Mar-V-Lus.

He is definitely not the "Good Timin'" JJ

CC = CC Ryder JJ = Jimmy Jones ?

Now to find out who CC Ryder is

Mel,

That's the "Good Timin'" Jimmy Jones - the last
records I know of by him were a couple of singles
on Bell, produced by Papa Don Schroeder - at least
one of them was written by Norman Johnson of
the Showmen (before he started calling himself
General Johnson)

Once more Davie,
many thanks for putting me right.

I have got a Jimmy Jones record on Twinight 130 "I Want Action" b/w "Yesterday's Mistakes". It must be the same Jimmy Jones who directed Syl Johnson's big hit "Is It Because I'm Black" and other records on same label. Is this a third Jimmy Jones or the same as the One-Derful one?

Lars,

That's the One-Derful / Mar-V-Lus guy - they're
all Chicago records.

There was another Jimmy Jones who sang with The Dixie Hummingbirds. He sang the bass parts on Jackie Wilson's "I Just Can't Help It".
Then there was the jazz pianist/arranger.

That is one of the few 45's that I still possess.

It is a nice sound.
