Next Sunday (13th April) Bobby Parker & Louisiana Red are playing at my local theatre in Maidstone, UK. I am intending to interview Bobby for Manifesto magazine. Apparently when he was in the Paul `Hucklebuck` Williams band he released his first solo single on Vee Jay 279 You've Got What It Takes / Blues Get Off My Shoulder. Although he wrote the top side he sold it to Berry Gordy who put his own name and Billy Davis' on it and it was a smash for Marv Johnson. Has anyone any more info on this deal please ? PS John Lennon declared that the riff on Day Tripper was based upon Bobby's `Watch Your Step`. Keith

Keith you would be shocked at the number of deals like that. It's why I usually say a song is credited to...as opposed to written by...

Sam Moore (Sam & Dave) says he wrote "Money" while singing with a young group signed to one of Henry Stone's record companies in Miami, FL and that Stone sold the song to Berry Gordy.

I saw Bobby Parker last Sunday and he was GREAT, he can really play that guitar. On the show was Deitra Farr from Chicago, for me she stole the show - a cross between Ko Ko Taylor and Sugarpie Desanto. There are lots more UK dates left on the tour - catch it if you can. Keith
