Our White Sox kicked the Tigers' tails today, 5-2. After a 2 1/2 hour rain delay, Joe Crede hit a 400+ foot homer in 35 degree weather, Esteban Loaiza got the victory and Billy Koch the save.

My brother Gordon--he still lives in Detroit--makes an interesting point about the Tigers under Alan Trammel. He doesn't expect them to win a lot of games this year, but it won't be for lack of trying, which has been a problem over the past few years. They may be young, and not have a lot of talent, but under Trammel they will play hard, without the mental mistakes.

OK...SERIOUSLY TIGER FANS!!!...WHILE I'M NOT REAL FAMILIAR WITH THE CURRENT BENGAL CROP...I DO REMEMBER WELL WHEN SPARKEY ANDERSON (WHO LIVES IN THOUSAND OAKS BY THE WAY...AND I SEE HIM AT A LOCAL GOLF CLUB ON OCCASSION) TOOK OVER THE TEAM...THEY HAD A HORRIBLE RECORD THE FIRST YEAR...BUT SOON...WITH YOUNG TALENT LIKE TRAMMEL (WHO I SPOKE WITH ONCE BACK IN 84 AT GENOPOLIS IN FARMINGTON HILLS...AND WAS TOTALLY IMPRESSED WITH)...WHITTAKER...PARRISH AND ALL CLIMBED THE LADDER TO GREATNESS!!!...THE KEY IS REBUILDING THROUGH YOUNG TALENT AND LETTING TRAMMEL DEVELOP IT LIKE HE WAS DEVELOPED IN HIS PLAYING DAYS!!!...GIVE THEM A COUPLE OF YEARS...AND WHO KNOWS...THEY MAY BE READY TO CHALLENGE THE DODGERS IN A WORLD SERIES!!!...STU

Well, the White Sox swept the Tigers in a three-game series over the weekend here at U.S. Cellular Field (formerly Comiskey Park).

U.S. Cellular paid the White Sox a crapload of money to allow their name to be used. This is beginning to be a common practice, which I hate. Bank One Ballpark, Staples Center, Enron Field (remember that one?). What's next? Ken-L Ration Stadium? Massengill Park? Charmin Arena? I wouldn't be surprised.

Wrigley Field? Be a good name for a gum.
There's a story told that Augie Busch, when he purchased the St. Louis Cardinals and built a new stadium, wanted to name it Budwiser Stadium. MLB said no, so he named it after himself (Busch), THEN created the beer to use the advertising gimick.

Hey everyone! The Tigers had their first lead of the season yesterday. They were ahead 2-1 before giving up nine runs in the eighth inning and losing 10-2.
Pop the champagne corks and kill the fatted calf!
Regards,
Ken

I don't think the people of the North Side of Chicago would allow Wrigley Field's name to be changed. There would be riots in the street ala Stravinsky's "Rite Of Spring". U.S. Cellular Field will always be Comiskey Park to me.

It'll just be Sox Park to me.
And what is "Comerica" Park??? Sounds like a sponsorship (sellout) to me!

Today's Cubs home opener was postponed due to snow, they've rescheduled it for tomorrow. The White Sox game at Cleveland was also snowed out. Maybe they should shorten the season and begin play in late April or early May. Nah!
