The joy Tones put out a beauty of a ballad in 1964 titled "This love (that I'm giving you)" on Coed Records.

Anymore info on the Joy Tones?

Kapp Records released "This Love" by Love Potion a few years later, The two versions are virtually
identical. They have different flipsides.

Can anyone shed some light on this chain of events. Who are the members of Love Potion?

The Joytones were:

Vikki Burgess, Margaret Moore, and Estelle Harper in early 1956; Vikki Burgess, Margaret Moore & Barbara Brown later in 1956; and Vikki Burgess, Margaret Moore, and Lynn Middleton from late 1956 thru 1965.

The Joytones recorded:

All My Love Belongs to You/You Just Won't Treat Me Right - Rama Records - 1956

Gee What A Boy/Is This Really The End - Rama Records - 1956

My Foolish Heart/Jimbo Jango - Rama Records - 1956

This Love/I Wanna Party Some More - Coed Records - 1965

They recorded as The Hi-Lites:

Please Believe Me, I Love You/Sweet and Lovely on Reno in 1958.

They recorded as Love Potion:

This Love/Mr. Farouk (inst.) on TCB in 1968
This Love/Moby Binks on Kapp in 1969

(Above discography courtesty of John Clemente "Girl Groups, Fabulous Females That Rocked the World".)

I've had the pleasure to have met and gotten to know both Vikki Burgess and Margaret Moore over the years. Unfortunately Margaret Moore passed away in the mid 1990s.

Vikki Burgess also sang with the Charmers on Timely. Vikki is alive and well today and sings with the current Harptones group. She also has been singing as a solo artist in jazz clubs in NYC over the years.

Lynn Middleton (aka Sugar Greer) also sang with the Harptones maybe a dozen or more years ago. She is deceased.

Nuff thanks to Nikki and Mel.

"This love ..." is one heck of a ballad. I really like the line " ...You better take advantage of this golden opportunity..."

Here is an interesting piece of info. Coed label credits writer of "This love(that I'm giving you)" to Al Stewart, Tony Middleton, whilst Kapp credits "This love" to J. Elliott-Harry Dupree.

Wasssup with that!!!!
