I'm not going to make too much of this because I have a feeling Lynn wouldn't hear of it, but I received this e-mail from him today. Lynn, you and I never met personally, but we sure have traveled in the same circles and I consider you a friend. Take care of yourself and do all that you are told to do. Meanwhile is there someone who can help him wih the archve situation?
Lynn's letter...
Hi Ralph,I was wondering if there is a way to retrieve the very first Lynn Bruce drums.
I went in for knee surgery last fri. and when four blood tests came out the same they concluded that I have leukemia.I could die of old age or it may be a lot sooner. So I'm trying to get a little booklet up of some of my old band stories to give to my grandkids to read when they get older. It's a drag trying to remember all I wrote if it's still floating around in the forum somewhere.
Spring has arrived in Dearborn!Up to almost 70 today, then snow and rain over the week-end.Monday is the Tigers opener and they call for a low in the morning of 24 going up to a muggy 44 with rain and snow showers. Ah,Michigan my Michigan!

Hey Lynn ;
Your second and third threads were easy to find but it took a while to scare up your first thread and I'm not sure how I found it...anyway, rather than trying to retrace my steps , I printed out all three of your threads. The first one , in particular, is huge and full of great stories - I can see why you'd rather not start from scratch !!
Anyway , hit me with an email with your address at
expeditiousproductions@yahoo.com and I'll get them in the mail to you.
Hey, your doctors aren't just jerkin your chain with that 'old age' stuff. In my experience thats been the case far more often than not.
Lemme know where to send the threads.

Hi Lynn
I can tell you're made of something special.
That is what will see you through this.
Putting your story together will be fun. If you need any images taken of former venues/properties etc let me know.
I'm so looking forward to meeting you in May.
David
Steve
Thanks for scrolling through the archive. I will speak to Lowell today about retrieving other threads.

Please upload that first thread (or whatever). It would be great to go through it again.
Thanks

David ;
I've found the page again but I can't figure out how to upload a whole page. I wish I could explain how I found it, but it's just cliking and scrolling off of different threads. There are many older threads I thought long gone at the same location. If anyone has any suggestions , I'll be in and out today. If not, I'll just keep it minimized and when I talk to my son later , he'll figure it out.

I'd thought you'd been a bit quiet forum-wise
now I know why.
You take care of yourself, y'hear ? Think of

I,d like to thank everyone for your kind thoughts.
Ralph thanks and Steve Kilpatrick thanks for going to all that trouble.
My knees a little sore, but outside of my white blood cell count being high, I feel good (better than James Brown).
The sad thing is though,my Tyrone Davis greatest hits cd just started to go dead on one song for no reason, now THAT,S something that has me worried.LOL
Thanks again

Thanks again for the support.
After seeing Davie Gordons correct way of spelling"to your health" in Galic.I thought I,d stop spelling mine phoneticly.Slainte is pronounced" slawncha".Mhath is pronounced vah.My version is from street Galic. In other words half english, half galic.
If only it wouldn't take fifteen letters to spell a four letter word in English.
What twisted mind devised the spelling of Galic words?
By Davie Gordon (193.122.21.42) on Tuesday, April 01, 2003 - 02:57 pm: |
Lynn,
Tsk, tsk!! it's spelled "Gaelic" (in English
anyway, you don't want to see the original spelling)
Gaelic spelling seems to have been designed to confuse the English ; - ) That and the fact that
Gaels never hurry anything.
Slainte = health Mhath = good
Gle mhath ( pronounced Glay Vaa ) = very good
- it's also the name of a rather potent drink

can learn about a minority language as well as

Dear Lynn, we have never exchanged many words, but I have read most of your postings. I am sorry to hear this news and wish you well. I have a copy of the first posting. It is known as:652.html. It was when you first introduced yourself to David, on the forum and mentioned Bob babbit! It will be on its way soon to you.
By Lynn Bruce (65.60.202.214) on Tuesday, April 01, 2003 - 06:32 pm: |
Davie,I,m still laughing from your last post. When I said I write Gaelic phoneticly,it was the truth.Way to much time studying music and not enough studying the language. Now I,m going to blow the dust off my old Gaelic books and start from scratch. My main concern is being able to properly order a beer in Gaelic."I have my prioritys"!
Perhaps an English king long ago sent a scholar north to fix those barbarians and told him to write down their words using as many letters as he could describe something from english to gaelic.lol--
This is all in jest my English friends as American and British people are one family in these troubled times.
Thank you Carl for your help,I really appreciate it.I owe you a trip to the nearest pub.
As Robert Burns said: My hearts in the highlands.-Lynn

Thanks Barb for posting the pics and the"Count".
Everythings cool Stu.
Larry that's not a Neru jacket that was in 1963,way before that style, just collarless.
The first pic. is with Gary U.S.Bonds,1963,we were working at the Peppermint lounge in Miami,Fl.
No.2 is when we were working with Danny Woods 1965,the band is The Moving Violations in Detroit at Moreys Lounge on Michigan Ave
No.3 is Danny Woods and myself at Moreys on a break.
No.4 Danny Woods in the middle of his very comical floor show(not only was he a good singer, but he was very comical also)
No.4 is my friend the Count's band The 5Invictas, a kick ass group out of Detroit.
No.5 is when I worked with Johnny & the Huricanes 1960.
Damn,it was so long ago,it seems like there should a covered wagon in the background, but it was our Volkswagen bus,if we were lucky we could get it up to 60 on the flat roads(if there wasn't a head wind),it had absolutly no guts.We almost had to stop and shift in to first going up a hill.
Slainte Mhath(Davie Gorden, can you dig my gaelic spelling)LOL
