DIONNE WARWICK - "The LADY" Just get's better, what a Live Concert it was in Manchester UK last night, Thursday 27th March 2003.

The LADY was in True form and as Maggie Thatcher used to say she was not for turning.

She rolled out the HITS and the sounded better than ever, how Cilla Black (The Scouse Singer for US Friends) stole those hits off her in the UK I will never know, daylight robbery!

She was so proud to introduce her eldest Son David on stage to sing two songs with her, and also tell her FULL HOUSE of fans about her now project to celebrate 2003 as 40 years as a Solo Singer, a double album with tracks with her FRIENDS! Elton John, Destiny's Child, George Benson to name but a few and of course her her Son David.

One sad point near the end, Dionne did labour her objections to the Iraq War, which she like us is FREE to do unlike the many Iraq People, but when she said what the USA and Her President was doing was a "Sin" someone shouted back "Shame on You" and she returned shame on You, she went on to praise PM Blair, unlike President George Bush! - a few members of the audience then walked out, it was sad near the end of what was a PERFECT CONCERT and as I said a TRUE LADY this should happen and spoil some of the evening.

What a great artist.Too bad she is ignorant about politics.I'm glad me & 75% of the United States was not there.

Sorry, John, no disrespect meant towards you or Ms. Warwick.I just think entertainers should stick to what they know & only express their opinion if asked.I don't like anyone taking cheap "pot-shots" at my President that I trust & admire(and I'm a registered Democrat).I am glad to hear that musically her concert was great.

Tony:

The last thing I want to do is get into a political squabble. There is simply to much of that going on and none of it productive. I agree that artists in general should stay out of these kinds of situations, however it should be whether the artist is PRO or CON. The great irony in all this is that no one objects or is boycotted, or maligned if you are for the President and the War but if you are against, you are jumped on with both feet. There were a great deal of people who died throughout our history for our right to be able to express our opinions. To try to squelch this inalienable right or make the opinion expresser a victim, seems... well.. anti American. Just my opinion.

Back to the real point of this thread, I am glad to hear that Dionne Warwick sounded wonderful. I had worried that the cigarettes had really affected her vocal ability.

No it was not a pot at DIONNE, it just disappointed me, we all have our personal opinions and that is because we live in a Free Society, but entertainment is supposed to be fun.

DIONNE made the full front page of The Manchester Evening News tonight, along with The Manchester City Council Leader, who has ordered that the UK Glag The Union Jakc should be flown half mast until the war ends!

What a crazy world we live in, if everyone reacted this way, it would be chaos!

Once again michael/cleoharvey u speak the truth and do it well per free speech. I was very disappointed whenI heard Dionne on TV recently--I think the Kennedy Center honors in Wash DC w/Burt B. Her voice seemed very weak, she kind of talked sang for a bout a minute and then I think a big choir joined in. Was this an aberration per her recent live performances?

Hi Vandelron

DIONNE is very softly spoken but she came through clear at The New Lowry Theatre in Manchester which has pure superb sound, the first couple of numbers you could tell she was warming up, but I can tell YOU when she was fully wamred up, WOW! she was at HER best, still going strong at 62

I'm glad to hear Dionne sounded great. I read a thread on a Yahoo site that said her voice was "shot" due to heavy cigarette smoking. Glad to hear her voice is still with us! I think she as any artist should keep their opinions to themselves. No one asked, did they?
