I'm sure that people on this forum already know this: Jack Ashford is a cold tambourine player! If anybody wants proof of this please listen to "War" by Edwin Starr. The tambourine work on that song is brilliant. Listen to what Mr. Ashford is doing during the chorus and everything else in that song! Other examples of his brilliant playing (There are so many), "How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By You" by Marvin Gaye, "I Know I'm Losing You" by the Temptaions, "You Can't Hurry Love" by the Supremes to name a few! Thanks for making this world a better place Mr. Ashford.

Maybe not the best but well up there, is that excellent tambourine player, Miss Martha Reeves. Never seen her on stage without one, keeping all the musicians and Vandellas in perfect time.

Is that Jack Ashford shaking the tambourine on the beginning of Marvin Gaye's "That's The Way Love Is?" I love the tambourine work on that song.
