The current commercial features Junior Walker/Road Runner I believe and there is many more to come! Well done KFC and the ad agency in London who came up with this superb way of placing Northern soul and Motown right in the face of the public. If they have any sense they will, after the campaign ends:

1/make a compilation CD of the tunes for release in the UK and US

2/ consider doing it again on the next 10 campaigns.

3/ Make a short documentary about how it all came about and sell it to the music channels.

I remember on another thread I suggested commercials were a perfect way of creating interest in the ever evolving Northern Soul scene over here. Looks like it works! The ad agency have had many enquiries about the ads.

I was watching cartoons with my 5 year old nephew. They were playing Motown songs with every cartoon. When I realized that the whole songs were being played, I put a tape in just in time to tape a cartoon with Barrett Strong's "Money" being played in its entirety.

LOL @ Dixon "We have 'souled' out!" That was nice. You and Ritchie are a great duo.

I was going to drop in a line about Andre Williams' `Greasy Chicken` but then realised that guy was obsessed with singing about food...Cream in my Coffee, Bacon Fat, Pass the Biscuits Please, Rib Tips, Do the Popcorn and finally one dish that KFC don't sell here in the UK...Sweet Little Pussy Cat. Thank you Sis! Subliminal soul tracks cropping up on kids cartoons. That's a new one. Keith, The KFC commercial has Easter bunnies jumping about all over the place! Pity they did not use a Bunny Sigler track. I think he got his nickname because he was born around Easter! Bunny, can you confirm?

Brian - I sure would like to hear it on Radio 1!! That would mean the tide is turning at last. Frank Wilson on 'Top of the Pops'! About time KFC commissioned a new song from The Funks and get it in the charts!

RE: the tracks used by KFC being made available on CD.
Frank Wilson's cut is already available on a couple of current UK CD's. The Jnr Walker cut is also currently available.
The Bobby Garrett track was included on a CD released just over a month ago and today a comp BMG CD is released (it has Mod in it's title) that includes Laura Greenes "Moonlight, Music & You".
