I would like to accknowledge the anniversary
death of one the greatest singers in music history! Ms Linda Jones.............I saw perform
for the very last time on a Friday evening..
March 10, 1972, with my sister Lene... at the
Apollo theater........George Kerr her writer and
producer was the bandleader that evening and she
put on a wonderful performance inspite of her
condition..............She didn't look well that
evening but she her heart and soul out !!!
I read in the Amsterdam News ( a popular newspaper
circulated in Harlem and in Brooklyn here in New
York) of her untimely passing on the Thursday
edition........Linda died that Tuesday, March 14.
Let's continue to keep Linda's legacy alive, not
just on the 31 anniversary of her entering the
gates of soul heaven,.......but everyday......

Peace be unto you Linda and thanks for
bestowing the world with your gift that
will continue to shine in our musical
hearts ...........forever !!!

Wow, Chancellor. You were lucky indeed to have seen her. And we're all lucky to have her inspiring records to listen to today. Gone too soon, but what a legacy she left.

Very well said Mike,
a great loss indeed like so many others.
But thankfully,
Her memory will live on with me forever as I have a few of her records and also a few tapes/cds of her material on it.

Chancellor/Mike:
You & your sister were lucky to witness such a performer before she left this earth. It's tragic that she died at such a young age from a disease that could've been somewhat controllable (diabetes) with proper care & medical treatment.

Favorite Linda Jones' classic - Hypnotized

There was a version of "Hypnotized" by Terri Jones on Emergency. If memory serves me right, I believe it came out in the late 80's or early 90's.

Does anyone know if Terri is related to Linda?

I have had the pleasure of seeing Linda at the Apollo on the same show in 1967 as the Ojays doing I'l be sweeter tomorrow and that is where I met them both . I was on that show playing guitar with the Vibrations.
I then had the pleasure of working with her at PIR not long before she passed.

A Linda Jones Live in Steubenville, Ohio CD was floating around a few years ago. Not only did Linda have health problems but she was also traumatized by an abusive relationship.

Linda Jones was the deepest and most profound at interperating lyrics. she tore my heart out. there was no one like her, she had the ability to move one's emotions.
