Are there other soul music forums that you could recommend. I am thinking along the lines of a regional forum, such as one for Memphis, Philly, L.A., N.Y.,.

If you're registered with Yahoo Groups, Soulpuss, there are some great groups over there devoted to southern (not just Memphis) and Philly soul.

Here's the Yahoo Groups URL, go over and register, do a search for what you're interested in, and maybe I'll see you on one of those lists:

I moderate a board dedicated to Florida artists/records, and there are sections for Florida soul and funk.

Those sections aren't as active as the 60s garage band forum (which gets at least 10 posts a day) but in time they should get more response.

In case you didn't realize -- this forum is regional -- Soulful DETROIT.

hmm, after all this time I must confess that I did NOT realize this forum was strictly a regional concern, Pfft. I thought this forum was a place to discuss the soulful music from ANY region by passionate music fans with disparate preferences from all walks of life. Someone correct me if that assumption is wrong...

John,
You've got it right. Detroit just happens to be an ideal jumping off place to all directions of the planet when it comes to great R&B.
