Just as I thought, Ritchie. Is the record available anywhere? Have you heard it?

I've only heard a few odd tracks here and there, but what I've heard is what you'd expect of the style of the times (if that makes sense..) I'm not aware of any reissues of the album, so I guess it's just the rare original copies around now :o(

This is all I know:
They released two singles
Motown 1022 A Twistin' Kings Xmas Twist Nov-61
Motown 1022 B Twistin' Kings White House Twist
Motown 1023 A Twistin' Kings Congo Pt. 1 Dec-61
Motown 1023 B Twistin' Kings Congo Pt. 2
... and one album on Motown... this is the front cover.
The back cover is very informative!... as all early Motown albums...
On the label you can se that Mr. Barney Ales is involved as a writer on ALL tracks... His name is even mentioned in one of the tracks... so is Mr. B.G.
This is the second Motown album. Mary Wells' first was released on MLP-600. "Congo Twist" on the album is 6.35 long. Some of the songs are instrumental some vocal. The sound is quite wild on some tracks... early Contours style! My guess is Funks with Rayber Voices...and maybe some add on singers... No special lead singer... harmony singing... a group sound... a female voice between the males...
... But still... this album is great and I am still very curious about who is singing and playing... I have wondered for almost 40 years...so the question is still here...

It's sho nuff the Funk Bros playing (if Dr Licks' book is to be trusted, & I think it is) - though it might be pre-Earl Van Dyke ... but like you, Lars, I have been wondering who's singing since I got my copy in (I guess) the late 60s ... c'mon someone with better ears than mine ...
